Nearby Passenger Service(s)

Would somebody be so kind as to tell me what Nearby Passenger Services actually means?

When I click on an office (I think it's an office, it's an internet service provider) the Nearby Passenger Service icon is red.  I would have thought that I could simply mouse over that line in the properties of the building to get a tool tip to tell me what that actually means but that doesn't seem to happen in my game.  So....

What does it mean, Nearby Passenger Services, and how do I correct that so that it's not in the red?

Thanks very much for the assistance.

You need better (or more) road connections off the edge of the map near the offices with the problems. Alternatively (or additionally) an airport fairly nearby with good road connections to/from it will also allow more 'passengers'.

Recently, I was playing online and someone commented that business hotels can be somehow related to the pasenger services for offices.  Business hotels don't need to be near offices, it's more important that they're on major roads.

There's a way to show passenger services on your map (I think it's under the thing that looks like a gear on the right side of the screen).

I know the messages are a little weird sometimes:  In a city of 1 million I had deleted my all-in-one station and I only had a couple tokens that were slightly negative and I kept getting "the city needs resources" message.  I rebuilt the all in one and my tokens stayed pretty much the same but I stopped getting that message.

The all-in-one station should always remain in the city, although it's function might be useless...

Just be careful making road connections, someone correct me if I am wrong, but they have an expensive recurring fee (kind of like the Planet... n/m). I once made a highway connection too soon and almost bankrupted my city.

The highway connection (city-link) is a real rip-off, a 100 000/mo (all other road connections cost only 100/mo). But this is because not only highways provide 100 freight/passengers (whereas roads provide 20), but they also use their own transportation resource, they don't share it with the other roads. So, when you spend all your city-link road resource, you don't have a choice but to use highway.

Read the Manual if you need more info on the subject.
