you select the image that was downloaded. When you click on the STEX description and click download an image appears, right click and select "Save image..." either "to downloads" or "As..." Thats the image that you click on when pressing control alt shift r.

This is a map of New York City, NY. It's scaled accurately. It's 44 by 40 km. Have fun!

    Instructions: (VERY important note below)

If you don't have my plugins pack, download it here.

    1) Place the 250m.dat plugin in your plugins folder, and remove any other height mod plugins... thanks to Andy80586 and lookinin for helping me create the mods.

    2) Create a new folder called New York City in your ..My Documents/Sim City 4/Regions directory.

    3) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder

    4) Download the NewYork250.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to.

    5) Run your SimCity 4 game

    6) Open the New York City Region

    7) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box

    8) Browse to the folder that you downloaded NewYork250.jpg to, find "NewYork250.jpg", and open this file.

    9) This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This will likely take between 40 minutes and 2 hours.

    10) Have fun!

so i'm following the directions on this and it says download the config but how do i do this?

in the STEX description drag the image on the right, it should be just a mixture of blocks of red green and blue, into the regions folder that you are trying to render, if you follow the steps it should be the folder you created in step 2 called "New York City".

Then you can render it. That error should disappear if you follow those steps correctly.

I don't know what blog or tutorial you are following, but read this one. It should tell you all that you need.

Feel free to ask again if you are having troubles.

And if you can, could you post a link to the file? it may be a problem with the file rather than what you are doing.

Load Region should be in the upper left hand corner in the region view of the game. There will be three tabs up at the top the on the left is "region view options" it looks like a map or something...

If the first letter is upper cased then it will be near the top in alphabetical order, followed by regions with the first letter lower cased and in alphabetical order.

    For example;

    A

    G

    P

    T

    Z

    e

    i

    q

    r

    s

    y

    Get what I mean?

If you still cant find it then create a new region, for purpose of this tutorial we will call it "example", in SC4 and then exit the game, go to the regions folder, look for that region that you just created, for this tutorial "example", and delete everything in there and drag the config.bmp file into this folder, load the game and go into this region and then continue the tutorial.
