Check out the article from the Charlotte Observer.  It also has a nice panoramic photo from the top of the building.

Duke Energy is our local power company in North Carolina and South Carolina.  The company was founded by the same family that founded Duke University in Durham as well.  The building was built/started as the new Wachovia Bank Corporate Headquarters but Wachovia was bought by Wells Fargo last year and they have since moved the main headquarters out of Charlotte, although we will keep the general banking headquarters for the US operations here.

This is now Charlotte second tallest building -- behind the 871 foot Bank of America Corporate Center.

Anyway -- enjoy the wonderful building!!

I like it. Charlotte's CBD has a lot of space for building if I'm not mistaken. Is that correct?

And where does the energy to run this monster come from?

@Muck 308; Yes for the most part. I have been there many times, and they have room to expand. They are still recovering from the recession though. It stopped many major developments there, some of which have not resumed.

I also note that there is a Freudian slip in the title of this thread.  I think you should leave it.

Duke87: It could be named after Duke of York 3.gif

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

-Steen Eiler Rasmussen, 1898-1990 (SimCity 2000 User Manual).
