Re-installing Win7

Good day.  So far, I am a RC Win7 user, soon will need to format my HD, to make a clean install of  win7.

My question is,  if I can make a backup of my actual plugins carpet, and after installing win7 and SC4DE, put all files in the new plugins carpet.  I know that for the .dat files and anothers, would not be any problem, but what about all .exe installed.

copy and transfer your entire "Simcities 4" folder and all subfolders to the "new" install "Simcities 4" location. No changes should be needed, though the master "my doc's" folder may be slightly differently named.

The SC4 "install" folder should be created with a NEW install of SC4 from your CD's, then get the patches and updats installed as well. Then copy any specials you may have (most people don't have any) but you may have terrain mods, extracheats.dll, etc that you have added.. You can do that. Modify any "shortcuts" that get put on the desktop for whatever startup parameters you wish to use (=userdir, no intro, window or full, resolution sizes, etc) and you should be ready to go.

This is good news, because it would be a time comsumpting process to reinstall everything.

You should install the game with the CD's to get the registry keys entered, then you can copy [overwrite} the program files with the backup copy.
