Buss lanes

If you take a look at this article about future content packs - http://www.citiesxl.com/content/view/989/171/?lang=en , it says in the content pack with the buses that there will be new roads. Obviously since this article was posted 2 months ago, things have been re-arranged but that was likely to happen, as for many other things announced about the future. So, those "bus only" roads will probably be in the next content pack, or another one.

I still hope we'll get the Multiple Lanes tool, which was announced 2 years ago to be a tool where you can create your own roads by changing many things. I'll contact MC about that, they're probably still fixing it up and improving it and further working on it.

Ain't theese "BUS" markings just the sign that there is a bus stop? In Germany for example the stops are always(99%) marked with such a "BUS" marking on the ground.2.gif

I'm on solo mode and I'm getting bus lanes on my bridges in what I assume to be a bug.

So how have people found the most effective way to get your residents to use the buss system,

    • Short Routes (under 10 stops per line) that go long distance
    • Short Routes with one for residential pickup and a 2nd short one for going to industrial areas
    • Long routes, they circle all over the place, 15-25 (or more) stops
so how has everyone been using busses so far? i have yet to get a buss line to need the double decker yet

I have bus lines in all my cities: 4 lines in my biggest one (1,3 mil), and 1 line each in a 300 000 industrial city and a 70 000 holliday one.

In the first case only one of the lines needs normal busses, and has about 40% usage - it goes to the industrial district. The other ones use minibusses and have around 50% usage.

My line in the industrial city has the biggest usage as of now, around 70% with double-deckers. In this city I have the classic double division - residential district in one corner and industrial very far from it in the opposite corner. I guess that's how I get all this usage.

Poor designer (me).  I presently only have two cities going, each around 120k pop.  Since buses are an expense, it hardly seems worth it at this point.  I don't have any traffic areas that look the least bot congested to the point where buses would be of any help.  However, I want to add them anyway, just because they look cool, LOL.

My best idea may be to start a 3rd city, and do the design where the industry is way off in it's own corner of the map and everything else away.  Then give the "sims" (can we use that term here?) buses to get to work!!!
