First things first:

- I am using the config.bmp of the7trumpets map of Los Angeles.  I haven't figured out how to make my own, and I wanted a large region.  I will be customizing the terrain though.

- I am using the demand mod (occasionally), NAM, the Medowshire Tree Mod (STEX), and a civic buildings radius mod.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Geography

The Kingdom on Bengal is located 70 miles south or Sri Lanka, between the Maldives and Indonesia The kingdom consists of numerous islands with a wide variety of geographical features.  You'll find mountains, hills, rivers, lakes, and plains throughout the country.

Regions/Major Cities

The kingdom will have many regions.  The major cities will be independent, and most will have a seperate region called Suburbia.  There will also be a region of farms called "Middle of Nowhere", and a region covered by forest called Timberland.

There will be numerous cities, towns, and villages in the kingdom.  The largest of which will be (not in order): Shiloh, Liberty City, Los Santos, Gotham City, Fresno, and possibly one/two more.

This has resulted in the kingdom becoming very wealthy, and the residents enjoy a high standard of living.

A History of the Kingdom

The area now known as the Kingdom of Bengal has been inhabitated for at least the past 9,000 years.  The kingdom grew, and people from India and Southeast Asia to live in the kingdom.  As this happened, the kingdom grew in size and power.  By 1200, the kingdom consisted of it's present boundaries, north to central India, east to Java, and went as far as present day Vietnam.  In 1350, the Chinese came, and set up trading posts through the kingdom.  In 1400, a post was set up in present day Shiloh.  The post became an importand trade post, and a great amount of wealth was brought in.  By 1600, the British, Spanish, French, and Dutch set up posts in the kingdom.  Violence broke out between the groups, and in 1612, the British gained control of the kingdom.  Shiloh became a base for the East India Company, and the kingdom's wealth grew quickly.  The kingdom continued to thrive through the centuries.  In 1941, The Japanese seized control of the kingdom.  The kingdom was the scene of some of the worst destruction during the war, and by the time the war ended, millions were dead, injed, or missing.  Some estimate that up to 30% of the kingdom's population was killed or injured.  It seemed as though the prosperity was over.  The kingdom looked like a third world country, and few at the time expected it to recover.  However, the citizens rebuilt the kingdom.  In 1947, they were granted independence, and the citizens hoped to make the country rival the countries of Europe and America.  While a democracy, the citizens decided to pay tribute to the past, and they title of kingdom was brought back.  The nation rebuilt, and by 1960, it was one of the most prosperous in the world.  In 1965, a civil war broke out, and General Ling took power.  The nation's wealth reversed, and many found themselves in poverty.  In 1980, it was announced that the kingdom had developed a nuclear weapon.  General Ling set his sights on Mumbai, New Delhi, Jakarta, and Bangkok.  The international community reacted fast, and after a 30-day war, General Ling was killed and his government ousted.  The UN took control, and a democratic government was put in power again.  The nation once again became wealthy, and with the new government brought new business in while improving the lives of the citizens.  The nation was once again among the wealthiest in the world.  In 2004, disaster struck as 95,000 were killed in the Indian Ocean Tsunami.  As they had before, the kingdom's citizens pledged to rebuild bigger and better than before.  In late 2007, The Kingdom continues to thrive, and in 2009, it became the wealthiest nation in the world.

Photos

I know the ingame camera isn't very good, but I haven't figured out any other way.  I've heard of F14, but that didn't do anything.  I'm running windows on a Macbook, I'm also using a standard Mac keyboard, so if you know how to take pictures, please tell me how.

I love your trees and your variety of buildings. Hint, if you want to take a picture of the whole screen, you can minimize the mayor toolbar thing, and hit Ctrl+Shift and then S, and the camera should come up. Also, the info is nicely detailed, as is your flag. Can't wait for more! 9.gif

DCMetro34 - Thanks, I'll have to remember that camera short cut

De Ja Vu - Thanks, and it's great to not have that yellow pause box.  Although, I'm still getting used it not showing up when the game is paused.  Sometimes, I don't see the yellow pause box, and I think my towns are developing while I'm setting up another near by town.

    Schulmanator - Thanks

ironicepitome - Thanks, and is there a mod for that?  I searched for one on the STEX, and a google site just brought up torrent sites.

    Archean - Thanks

Sorry I haven't done any updates until now, but I was busy, and then I forgot that I had this journal.

I'll try to do another update this weekend, and then I'll try to get a few more out next week.  After that, I'll try to do an update every week or two depending on my schedule.

Also, I had do do another major city to get my demand back to normal, there was rock bottom residential, but sky high commercial and industrial demand.  The city looks awful, but I'll try to fix it up.  I just built the city on some islands in what was previously the sea, so no land from what I planned to use.  Also, the next few updates will also probably consist of the geography and transportation network of the kingdom.  I'll still try to throw in some towns in along the way, but I'm going to focus on connecting the kingdom through a system of highways, rail, and subway.

Also, how do you turn off the you-drive icons?

    Now, on to the photos.

Time for another update.  I'm going to focus on the kingdom's system of highways, rail, and kingdom wide subway system.  So time for some of what I've done so far.

    Timberland-Oct.%202%2C%20011263164840.pn

That's all for now.  I don't want to post a picture of every little thing, so for the next week, I'll try to post small updates like this (5-10) photos every day this week.  After this week, I'll try to do one update a week.  The region is large, so it will take a while to even do the transportation networks I am working on.

^Yeah, I've realized that, so let's just say Australia is a big influence on this kingdom.  I have some Asian and colonial buildings, so it shouldn't look so American when I'm done.  The buildings have grown in some of the larger towns, but the smaller towns are too small to support them.  I have them as plops though, so when the kingdom starts to take shape, I'll go back and plop them to make the towns/cities look less American.  Although, even with this, the kingdom will still look very American, so yeah, let's say Australia has a large influence on the kingdom.

ComputerGuy890100 - Thanks, now I don't have those annoying UDI icons on my screen that keep asking if I want to do a mission

De Ja Vu - thanks, and for some reason, I was thinking I needed a mod instead of just looking in the lower left corner of my screen

So I didn't do much on the transportation systems, so I bring you the city I didn't intend to do.  What happened was that my residential demand was as low as possible, while the commercial and industrial were at the max.  The city, named Gurnee, has a population, yet there are probably close to 1.5 million jobs.  It should be noted that only 1.1 million live in the region.  The city covers three squares, and it was pretty bad.  I tried to fix it by adding more parks, schools, and other buildings to make the city look better.  However, even with all the jobs being created, abandonment is still a problem.  Those that do live in the city are mainly low wealth sims, and even with the changes, the city is still pretty bad.

Also, a problem in this city and one/two of the other cities so far have a large number of Coit Towers and St. Ritzs.  Is there a way to make it so this doesn't happen as I don't want to have blocks of the same towers, especially buildings like those two.  If I have to remove the files for those buildings, if possible, I'll do it.  So if you know how to solve this, please tell me how to fix it.

    Now, onto the photos.

Several of these Communist style buildings were built around the city to fix the demand problem.  Even though the demand problem is still giving me some problems, it is nowhere near as bad as it was due to these buildings.
