Id though I make a thread to show some of the work I do and for support for my upcoming BATs.

I prefer to recreate the many buildings I see everyday and I like to have my work as much detailed as possible.

Even the smallest thing can be beatiful with proper details and textures.

Any questions you have please post here, thanks!!

Thats your first BAT? It looks great! Already got me excited to follow your work. I'm curious how wide it is in meters...it looks awfully big.

You are off to a good start! Its nice to hear that you will be taking such measures to insure accuracy, the final product is always many times better that way 3.gif I like seeing new BATers, and you show loads of promise.

I'll wait and see what you do with textures before I make any comments on them, but they look like a good starting point (like I said 3.gif)

Best of luck,

-Todd

    Thanks for all the replies!!!!

    To answer a few questions,

No its not my first BAT. I have done a couple of other buildings but never released. However I do intend to release at least one.

The scale is close to normal or at least to Maxis standard. I have yet to caliber Photoshop for GMAX but it shouldn't take long. Meanwhile I will try to finish the modeling.

    ------

    New release

More like a "test" BAT. I applied some photoshop techniques and modding (Custom Query).

    Small update

    uihk.jpg

Have the basic modelling and texturing finished. But still not happy with the roof texture. I have looked through Google Maps and I have seen that most of these stores have either black or white roofs. But it will look bad on the SC4 perspective.

You should definitely go for something more neutral gray on the roof, however instead of something red, try adding a tinge of blue to it so that it doesn't turn into some hideous yellow/green color in gmax's awful lighting.

I agree with Krypto and SimHoTToDDy, it's just more godd with grey roof.

But it's a splendid bat and the others textures are perfect.

I agree with all the comments above me =) The roof looks too bright and the color is kinda off. You said most stores have white or black roofs, but I think that gray would also look great!

The building itself looks fantastic and very detailed. Can't wait to see it completed!

    Keep up the good job!

Yeah I know. I looked through some BATs and I see many people usually have concrete roofs on large stores like this.

But I decided to use a metallic roof instead.

A metallic rusted roof! Indeed an idea on buildings' roofs, very different then most. The texture you used, IMO should stay the same, but the color, like most said, should be more of a grey, with a hint of black if you ask me. For the concrete ground you made, you did the same that I did: you took a texture from LE. 3.gif I used it on a couple of buildings, I think, however, it would be a good idea to edit it where it doesn't blend in with the side walks(which is what the texture is actually) so well.

    It's just splendid Nomadic.

Your roof is really nice and the "gardena" is wonderfull, bravo.

I find that your buildings have a small likeness with those of Bobbo662. (beacause of the textures)

I am really impatient to have this bat in my MD.

Cool. I am pleasantly surprised by your roof texture. I wasn't expecting it to look quite as nice compared to your previous update. I think this building will fit in perfectly with many of the other similar strip mall styled buildings on the STEX. Your building almost looks Goober-esque! (That's a compliment btw 9.gif )

The garden area looks especially vibrant. It adds a nice touch of flair to a building that is naturally, mostly roof.

Nicely done! I think you should compare the hue/saturation of all your textures with similar buildings in game so you don't have something that sticks out alike a sore thumb. The pavement in front of the entrance in particular could be shifted (to blue or red, hard to say without trying it) and maybe desaturated a little so that it matches up better with the game's paver tiles.

All in all, it looks great. You are putting in a lot of wonderful little details. Cheers,

    -Todd

I have started to work with 3ds MAX 9. Actually I bough it last year through a student discount offered by my school.

We are using Autocad on our workshop so it was required for my course.

    I started a little project,

    renderinga.jpg

That is just the base of a building which I haven't started it. Again, pretty basic modelling and texturing. Any advice is welcome though!!
