what is a bendy bus?

Also will we be able to deploy multiple lines from that bus depot?  So I dont have so many hubs in one area?

Where I live, we have the main hub, where all the lines converge, or disperse from.

Yes you will have the option of running three lines out or 12 lines out of a bus depot.

Let me just make a point or two about Cities XL and the new Bus Addon. The reason I'm doing this is because I want Monte Cristo to hear that I am unsatisfied.

I preordered CitiesXL and have been playing the solo mode for about two weeks now. I thoroughly enjoy it, it's great fun. It's a GREAT game.

However I think it is so unfair that Monte Cristo is supplying the vast majority of add-on content only to Planet Offer subscribers. I mean I paid $50 for this game, for that I get a really nice simulator lacing some very fundamental features. Now am I expected to pay $10 a month to get access to these features?

It's obvious to tell that the game was released early without all of the intended features. So why Monte Cristo, are you making people who bought your game suffer for your mistakes?

Please open your eyes and listen to your customers.

It would be reasonable that major new features of the game like Buses would be granted to people who did the right thing by you and bought the game.

Yeah, here I would agree with the previous two posters. Although I have a PO subscription, I feel that SP fellows need at least one type of mass transit for free. Besides, if memory serves, MC really did promise the busses to be free for all.

The bus system looks great! I look forward to implementing it into my cities! 4.gif btw, jacktaranto, it is $6.32 a month if you buy 3 months for Planet subscripion... nowhere CLOSE to $10 a month. I admit if you choose to go month by month you are going to give them more money, but its just plain stupid to go for one month when you get a better deal for 3 months.

Just two things. Please MC answer:

1)will be buses available only in PO?

2)will be possible to set up bus tickets price to have a revenue?

Thanks for your time.

I agree with many of the posters above, I feel cheated badly. IF anything MC should offer the add-ons through expansion packs. Easier way to get money if you ask me.

Bus = Planet Offer. No Po = No bus. Period.

I'm kinda tired to hear the same complains all over again... I mean, it you believed that the game had mass transit in it without the PO andbuyed it, that's your problem!

Oh boy, here we go again, another thread hijacked....

And yes, it would be unfair if content were free for all, PO or SP. At least in the current state of the game...

The bus system looks as if it will be good.  I like the fact that you have real routes - should make it an interesting option in managing traffic levels.

A bendy bus is an extra long bus that is articulated in the middle.

It has approximately the same capacity as a double decker.

They are faily common on busy bus lines in north american cities.

Double deckers, however are rare in north america. I don't know of any municipal bus systems in N america with double deckers. I've only seen them operated as sightseeing busses in hollywood and NYC where the upper deck is open air.

The differance is probably due to the different roads on the continents. An extra long, segmented, bus would be impractical on tight european streets, while a double decker would have trouble getting under north american overpasses.

I'm looking foward to this new feature, but I hope they add bendy busses sometime in the future.

For those asking and to expand on Pete's post above.  Here is an example of an articulate (bendy) bus, care of the BBC:

A real life example:

Some sort of skin to recreate the famous old London Bussus (the double dekker) would be very cool!

Yeah, I have to agree that bendy busses are by far much more common than double-decker. In Sao Paulo where I live, we have bendy busses, but no double-decker. (some of the bendies even have 3 parts, they're reeeealy long 4.gif)

Speaking from a practical point, a single-floor bus is more suitable for fast loading/unloading. You have more doors at street level, which means that people go up/down faster, and thus the bus spends less time on the stop and goes faster.

It would really make more sense to have bendy busses instead of double-decker, but in the end it's only a visual difference, as much as the game is concerned.

I can see why people want bendy buses, but from a visual point of view I think they'd not be distinct enough from any tram system that might appear in the future and unless you could limit them to particular routes they'd look strange driving on small roads through low density residential areas.

One thing I did wonder about was whether there will be a choice of liveries for the buses - it would be a little odd if every city on 8 worlds had the same bus company.   If not, that's got to be prime territory for a mod.

I love the buses but I want a few kinds: regular, double decker, double length (bendy), small, and shuttle with 3 fuel choices (diesel, hybrid, and electric) which affect how much fuel and electricity the depots use.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3
