People who did concrete pad got measures slightly too small so shed sits on about an inch of the wooden frame at either end

Glad to hear incompetence is all over the world. I thought it was just a local thing.

I wonder what it's like to work for a competent company. My first job in granite was for a company that went under as soon as I left. The plant manager committed suicide. It was awful. The place I'm at now has been limping along for years and is simply never going to get any better. Oh well. I show up and do my job and at least I can say that much! Yay for me!

For all our hard work and incompetencies (not a word, who knew?), why don't we enjoy ourselves several pizzas? We have thin crust, thick crust, Chicago-style, and any toppings you can imagine. We'll cook it up for you just the way you want to. Mine's going to be a thick crust with bacon, mushrooms, green pepper, and onions. I'll add a couple of Coronas to wash it down. Bon appetit!

I had one boss who let me go(I've never been fired from a job) and a few months later, he got canned for sexually harassing his secretary. I had another guy I worked for who got busted in a prostitution sting and had his dumb face all over Google News for weeks. lol  So, in a way, life always gets even for you.

I run my jobs like clockwork. Personally, I think most sane bosses are lazy, and screw-ups create more unnecessary work and drag the job out longer than I  want it to. I usually get in and get out with minimal time wasted, especially on chit-chat.

Chitchat is one of my all-time least favorite things, especially when I'm working. I run my department (which consists of myself and... myself) with the same kind of efficiency you mentioned for yourself.

Indeed!

We're having a pleasantly cool and windy day here in Upper Michigan, perfect weather for a warm and tasty Upper Michigan meal: the pasty! Beef, potatoes, onions, garlic, rutabaga, and carrots wrapped up in a dough shell and baked, they are an excellent and hearty meal enjoyed in times past by the miners and loggers who helped build the UP economy.

Another week stands before us! Though it may look insurmountable, we will be ready to face and triumph, thanks to CURRY SUNDAY!

For today's curry, we're going to go with a curry fried rice accompanying curry-rubbed steaks grilled to your preference (mine is medium). Served with garlic bread, steamed broccoli, and a beverage of your choosing (mine is barley tea). Let's eat!

Labor Day weekend is coming up here, it marks the unofficial end of summer. It also means you better not wear your white pants anymore. I suppose if we went to NZ we'd still be able to wear them. White pants year-round! I don't actually have any white pants, though. Ice cream, anyone?

I had to look this up, so yes in theory you could wear white pants all year round, but you would probably be recognized as a visitor as new zealanders tend to wear alot of black clothing

Didn't know this was a thing! Doesn't matter anyway, because I'm a dirt magnet, so wearing white is just begging for it. Used to have to wear "whites" when I worked for a painting company. I never understood why the filthiest jobs around require you to wear them.

On a humorous note, they hired a guy for my paint department, and on the first day, he showed up wearing pants basically as sheer as Ferdinand Marcos' shirt(pictured).

Ferdinand_Marcos_second_inauguration.jpg

He must have picked them up at a thrift store. Needless to say, we were never left in the dark about whether he was a boxers or briefs guy. If any of us walked behind him, we'd have to run to the other side of the property to laugh our heads off. Somebody finally must have told him, 'cause after he got his first paycheck, he was wearing normal pants.

The world would be a better place if we were all allowed to just wander around in our undies.

We prepared enchiladas tonight. Mrs. NMUSpidey tells me that it is a new recipe, but it is delicious and I thought they would be a good thing to serve tonight. Chips and three types of homemade salsa are available as well. Go ahead and help yourself to a Dos Equis, a Tecate, or (my favorite) a Corona to complete a perfect faux-Mexican-style meal.

Well, it's better to have a job and not want it, than to want a job and not have it.

ain't that the truth? I've been on a dozen interviews and can't land anything. I just had an interview for a dishwasher / cook job and I hope I get it.

Yea, I was kinda born into my job, working for my old man when I was 13. This virus BS isn't helping employment either. Hang in there, you'll get something.

Chorizo is great. I had these awesome chorizo tacos from the local texmex place last weekend, great spicy sausages. I have to eat spicy food these days, working at the place I work it's the only way I can feel alive. Hah! Just kidding, I don't like it there but it's really not THAT bad. Hey, isn't chorizo Mexican? No, a quick search says it's Spanish. Whatever, it's still delicious.

But tonight is not a night for chorizo. Tonight, we shall have curry because it's CURRY SUNDAY! We watched Desperado tonight, an old Mexican action movie directed by Robert Rodriguez on a shoestring budget and it holds up pretty well I think. So we'll make curry wraps in soft corn tortillas with sauteed peppers and onions, a dollop of sour cream, and curried strips of steak grilled to tender perfection. Should be a great way to start your week!

I get the ground chorizo, not the sausage. Goes in my chili, spaghetti and burrito recipes. Good fried up with a couple eggs in the morning too.

Yes, the texmex place's chorizo burritos and tacos are made of the ground chorizo, too, not in sausage casings.

Man, I tell you what, the idea of chorizo-and-eggs breakfast really sounds great. Let's put some of that together for today's special. Are we scrambling the eggs and mixing it all together or just serving them sunny-side-up alongside the chorizo? If we scramble them, let's add some cheddar cheese to the mix, and we can serve them both alongside some rice to take the edge off. Whatever way we go, Tabasco, Louisiana, and Sri Racha hot sauces are all available for your seasoning pleasure. Probably more in the pantry, too, just ask us, we should be able to find what you're looking for, although I'll just forego the hot sauce and enjoy the chorizo's taste.

I used to work with a guy from Oklahoma named C.W. Necessary. You can only get a name like that in OK. He never told me what the C.W. stood for.

Candidates wanting to be get elected to parliament are busy here campaigning, putting up billboards, etc and the ones in Wellington went thru the right of passage know as the Aro Valley Town hall meeting ..... the candidates can only speak for five minutes at a time after that the audience is allowed to start shooting at them with water pistols.

Its unfortunately the only meet the candidates meeting that allows water pistols, the rest might be a bit shorter if it was a general rule around the country.

Here we are again, ready to face another week. I'm not sure I'm ready for it. I had a long drive in the work car I have not-so-lovingly named The Penalty Box on Friday (something like 16 hours of driving) and then had to be up on Saturday morning for an all-day tax class after a painful night of not very much sleep. It was not a great weekend. I suppose I had one of these coming, I've had a lot of pretty great weekends this past summer, so that's fine. Next week I get three days mostly to myself, so I have that to look forward to. And tonight, we have CURRY SUNDAY to enjoy! And don't worry, 12 angry men will not be stopping us from serving you a delicious curry.

Tonight, since I'm in need of a little comfort before I can confidently face tomorrow, we're going with my favorite: S&B Golden Curry, medium spiciness. We'll cut up some mutton, mushrooms, onions, and potatoes to toss in the brown goop and serve it over a bed of flavorful basmati rice. Really looking forward to this one! Enjoy!

Curry sounds great, not much to report from this part of the world .... it looks like the country except for Auckland our largest city (as it still has active covid-19 cases) will be going down another level re covid-19 restrictions in a weeks time.

Looks more like 10 angry women and 2 guys too stupid to get out of jury duty. I pity the defendant.

Company cars are not penalty boxes. These are-

ddot_bus.7.jpg

and if you were a bad boy or girl whilst driving under the influence, these are-

and if you are Amish or belong to some other odd cult, these are-

Personally, I like company cars(on the rare occasions I ever got them). I don't have to pay for repairs, gas, insurance, etc. One of the bitches of working for yourself- you have to pay for everything. Currently whipping up some home-made olive salad for tonight's muffalatas, stuffed with ham, roast beef, salami, and 3 cheeses.

Well, compared to my CX-5 the Little Pontiac That Couldn't is a punishing thing to drive: overly harsh, deafening, weak, rubber-band steering. About the only thing it has going for it is that it's free. I certainly don't want to use the expensive tires on my car on those long downstate trips I won't get paid mileage for, so I'll keep sucking it up and continue driving the thing until either it mercifully finally dies or I'm finally able to move on to a new job (hopefully before the year is out). The article I sent to the editor of a car website hasn't been reviewed by said editor yet, so that's obviously not going to provide an alternate means of living. At least not yet.

Muffalettas sound amazing, now that I've looked them up. I think that should be our featured meal for tonight. We'll offer fries (thin-cut french fries, thick cut potato steaks, waffle fries, heck, we'll even make some tater tots), crunchy, crisp pickles, and tall glasses of iced tea to wash it all down.

The ingredients are fairly easy to duplicate, but the bun is almost impossible to get. Bakeries around here really blow- French bread like Wonder Bread, Chicago hard rolls that taste like hamburger buns, etc. I could order them but they'd probably be as hard as rocks when they arrive. As far as making my own, I suck at baking. Making a pie, to me, is opening a can of filling and dumping it into a pre-made pie shell.
