It's CURRY SUNDAY!  Today, we'll go back to Japanese curry.  Served over zakkokumai (multi-grain rice, trust me, it's good), we'll toss in eggplant, onions, carrots, and burdock root with tofu for our protein.  As always, naan will be served as a side for those rice-averse.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

Me? OK.

Japanese curry is much different to that Indian curry?

I don't think i've eaten that before. Or i have but forgot about it, i try to recall right now.

Yeah, every country puts their own spin on other countries' foods, and Japan is no different.  I'm not all that sure how authentic the Indian food is there (or how authentic it is here in the States) but it tastes different.  Both are totally delicious though.

Amusingly, there is even a Hawaiian curry, and Noh Hawaiian Style Curry is the local favorite supermarket brand there alongside S&B Golden Curry.  It is definitely mild and sweet curry, whereas I tend to like more strongly aromatic spices.  I even bought a mortar and pestle to grind down my own exotic spices.

Lazy comfort food for me is turning instant ramen packs into hopelessly inauthentic curry fried noodles or curry ramen soup.  Actually, curry fried noodles sounds good right now...

I love curries but the last one I ordered I think it started off life as a stew and they added curry powder to it as it had lamb, potatoes, carrots and mushrooms in it  :)

Oh and @Toby66   welcome to the bar

Mutton curry is so delicious, it's one of my favorites.  I mean honestly, they're probably all my favorites.

Today is CURRY SUNDAY!  For today's curry, I have a craving for something fried, so we'll go with KATSU-KAREE!  Starting off with Japanese brown curry, we'll add a filet of battered and deep fried pork and put the whole thing on rice.  Pickled ginger is served on the side for those of you who like that sort of thing.

The weather up here was quite nice this weekend, so we spent a lot of time outside.  A couple of hikes, several laps walking around the parking lot while the kids enjoyed their bikes, and ice cream.  quite nice.

Yup!  I promised I'd keep the ol' doors open and here we are.  Have a seat and dig in, if curry isn't your taste, we have some pasta today, with roast vegetables, chicken and crumbled garlic topping, it's quite good.

Fish-fry Friday!  I live in a small town named after a famous Catholic priest with a sizable Catholic population and just about every restaurant in town has some sort of fish fry event.  Even the Mexican place has deep fried fish tacos as a Friday-only special.  So, at least for today, we'll do that, too.  Deep fried cod fillets, french fries (of course), a green salad with cherry tomatoes, sliced carrots, and purple onions, and why don't we polish off our meal with some pie?  I'll have a slice of the chocolate pie with the peanut butter crust.

Well, the curry recipe for Curry Sunday was flubbed, so we'll have Curry Sunday Except On A Tuesday (or maybe Wednesday) this week.  For tonight, I'll haev the staff whip up some chicken alfredo, fetuccini, garlic butter breadsticks, and to finish it all off, tiramisu.  Wines are available from the wine cellar if you'd like, but I'd just as soon just stick with water.

I like wine but it doesn't like me, anymore than a couple of sips and I have an allergic type reaction to it .... have the same problem with beer but not as bad and I seem to be ok with cider but don't really like the taste, to be honest I've given up trying and tend to stick to non-alcoholic drinks these days

Yeah, I'm definitely not a wine person myself, and it's been a long time since I've had a beer.  I just don't get the same enjoyment from beer that I got when I was a student more than 15 years ago.  I like eating sweets a lot more these days.

Curry Sunday!  Except on a Wednesday!  Today, let's venture to India and cook up some biryani.  We'll use mutton for our protein and set it up with onions and potatoes (my favorite curry ingredients).  Although my ties to Japan are strong, and I do love me some Japanese sticky rice, basmati is my favorite, and we'll serve our biryani over that today.  Help yourself to some big, heaping spoonfuls!

Today is CURRY SUNDAY!  I've spent some time this week thinking about what to prepare for Curry Sunday over this Memorial Day weekend, but I'm not the most American American, and a large proportion of our patronage here is not American, so I decided that it didn't matter, so I'm making whatever I want to anyway.

Prepare yourselves for a spicy Thai red curry.  Green pepper, chicken, red onion, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots in a spicy red curry sauce, with lime added to your taste.  Served over rice (no naan this time, sorry naan aficionados) and you'll probably want to have some tea to accompany it.

Sounds great any chance of extra bamboo shoots with it  :thumb:

I accidentally broke a very expensive machine we use at work today.  Feels bad, man, so I'm gonna open up the ice cream bar and eat my anxieties away.  A full bowl of chocolate with peanut butter ribbon washed down with a bowl of cookie dough ice cream should be a good start.

I feel your pain ... years ago I went to delete a picture from the extremely large company website, about 15 minutes into the picture delete I started to get a bit worried as to why it was taking so long as it was a pretty small picture .... had to go to the boss and tell him we no longer had a company website due to the fact I'd deleted it  :(

Just thinking about it I feel the need for a bowl of Ice cream .... not sure the freezer has any NZ Ice cream in it, but if it does then I'd love a bowl of chocolate eclair (its vanilla fudge flavoured ice cream with choc chips and a rich chocolate fudge ripple)

Tough luck Spidey; but don't get too down, it happens.

Since the ice cream bar is open, I'll have a bowl of Chocolate-chocolate chip with double fudge please.

That's too bad Spidey but as Vigilante said, it happens. I broke a very expensive die cutter for a label press once, thought I lost my job on that one.

Yep.  We have another one to use so at least I can keep working, but I'll be happy once I get my machine back.

Today is CURRY SUNDAY!  And I have a hankerin' for some chicken tikka masala.  Toss a little onion in their, pour it on some basmati rice and BAM delicious dinner.  I think that'll take my mind off my poor, broken machine.

iiiiiIT'S CURRY SUNDAY!  Today we'll be preparing butter curry, a mild curry with a hint of buttery sweetness.  Added to it we have mutton, potatoes, onions, and we'll serve it over basmati rice or in a bowl alongside however much naan you could ever want.  And afterwards, I'll set out some chocolate chip cookies, not very Indian, I know, but I love them, they're delicious.
