St David's Day? What is that day, is the saint of a community?

St. David (Daffyd) is the patron saint of Wales. Probably an obscure middle ages monk who brought Christianity to the country. I don't know if he is still in the Canon because there was a big clean out a few years back. You might take a look at St. George (England), St. Andrew (Scotland), and St. Patrick (Ireland) as well. Next up is St. Patrick (March 17).

Ah, the St. David is the saint of Wales.

At this side of the world we commemorate Saint Patrick's Battalion in St. Patrick Day.

Well, I would like a cup of coffee, please.

If you have any left from yesterday, I'll gladly have a glass of perry after a far-too-long week of schoolwork.

Thought I'd drop in and say hi to ST after several years' absence! I'm doing well: currently halfway through an Urban Geography/GIS undergraduate degree in Montreal, so I've still very much got the SC mindset. I intend to go back to New Brunswick when I'm finished and use what I've learned to make my hometown as awesome as possible.

Welcome to the Moose Factory. Here's your Perry. The Moose Factory can serve anything any time.

    Alejandro, here's your coffee.

Perhaps both of you would like a snack? This morning we have croissants with butter. May we suggest a little Roquefort with that to give you strength for the day.

Fischbob, will you be able to solve the Moose problem in New Brunswick? You have almost as many as the Rock.

If you haven't played SC4 for a while, you should come back. It is very relaxing on lower speeds, and you can just puddle along trying out some of the newer stuff.

Win, win, wintario! Now you know why the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission has been building indoor rinks every place they could find a patch of ground.

As for street hockey, Jack, playing hockey without ice and skates is like a day without sunshine. You wouldn't care to try curling without ice would you?

Well, breakfast time again, so I'll have my usual. Autosystem! Perform!

Served with pleasure. Congrats on your Trixie. Well deserved. FYI, I've switched back to Ubuntu but using the kfce desktop. Looks just like Mint, but with more juice. I really am not a fan of the GNOME desktop as it stands. I am using the one called Gnome classic.

Jack, with your Mexican food, would you like a little Sangria? All served with a carafe on the side.

What would be today's recommendation from the chef?

Well, if you leave it to us, for your elevenses, we serve an English muffin, soaked in butter and covered with ginger marmalade, Irish breakfast tea, and a Scotch egg with fresh cider.

The Search for Gollum was a good hit, by the way. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ubuntu 11.10 with the GNOME (3) desktop. Looks just like a tablet (almost). You could also wait for 12.04 due at the end of April. It is an LTS (Long Term Support) release.

Numbers, the cream soup today is Cream of Spinach made with chicken stock and leeks. Enjoy.

Non-alcoholic wine???? That's strange. Talking about wine, I would like something french, let the autosystem select it randomly, but not snails; also I would like some of wine, but wine from the vineyards in Baja California Norte, please.

Linux distro: I always reccomend to do a list with some distros (I started with 5), and test each system in live session. I personally reccomend Linux Mint, OpenSUSE, Ubuntu and Fedora. I also reccomend as curiosity to test DSL (Damn Small Linux) and a KDE, XCFE or LXDE desktop system.

Since seems to be that you don't know nothing about Linux, I reccomend you to start with Linux Mint, download it (Cd or DVD edition), burn the .iso in a CD/DVD or write the .iso in a flash USB (using Unebootin).

Then configure your computer BIOS (at the start of the computer when you turn it on, pressing the key Del, F12 or the key indicated, see the manual of your computer, or tell us how your computer is), start with the CD/DVD unit or with the USB. And test the system in live session mode.

Then, when you want to install the your selected Linux Distro, just install it, the installation guide will help you selecting and setting the disk partitions. When it finished, it'll restart the computer and you'll se a boot menu (in Linux Mint and Ubutnu called Grub, Lilo in another systems) with both operating systems: Windows and Linux.

Now, just take patience learning how to use Linux. At the first could be hard and sometimes frustrating. But its normal to make mistakes, also we learn based in the errors. Always that you have a doubt, ask, always ask if you have a question of doubt. Forums, Social Networks, IRC, etc... Linux community is really big, there always will be someone who helps.

When I started using Linux, it was something complicated. I was in high school, my teacher of programing and networks helped me a lot with this. I've made sometimes huge mistakes. But I learned a lot with them. My actual computer have 3 partitions: Windows 7, Linux Mint 12 and a special partition for the rest of archives, called Data. Then I came to ST, and Nonny show me a lot of Linux. This way never ends. That's the most exciting part of Linux, you never ends to learn about it.

Well, something French ... OK, here is a serving of Cassoulet du Midi with a dry white wine as requested. For those so requesting and those under drinking age the autosystem dealcoholizes beverages tracelessly, replacing with alcohol with synthahol so that the taste is not altered.

Jack, I would forget DSL since Alejandro has crossed this out. I suspect it is really an implementation of Minix which is too small to do anything with. Choose either Mint or Ubuntu (or both). I don't like OpenSUSE, there is too much missing, and have never run Fedora. I currently have Linux Mint 11 and Ubuntu 11.10 loaded, but my main is Ubuntu. I don't use windows at all, but you will find that with a version of Windows present you can mount and use its file system.

For ease of use, I recommend burning live CD/DVD versions. No monkeying around with your BIOS is then necessary. GRUB (GRand Unified Bootloader) is the successor to lilo, which is prehaps more user friendly. Have fun.

Because you can mount the Windows file system, getting stuff across is a cinch, but you will have to install SC4 under wine's loader to use it. After the install you can copy your user structure to the <jack's account>/SimCity 4 folder.

I think you will like Linux, but there is a bit of a learning curve. Just hang in there, and if you have any questions, just ask.

Ok, but the dealcoholized beverage are for underage. I'm not underage, so the wine must to be original.
