Ideas for creating an artificial island...

I am expanding the land to have more room in my city (center of picture) and I want to create an artistic arificial island right next to it like the palms in Dubai, but more original.  Maybe its early in the morning but I cant think of any design. 

Maybe you can help me with ideas?

They do have the right year. The 2014 Winter Olympics will be hosted in Sochi, Russia. The weird part is the fact that they are building a tropical island for the WINTER olympics. They dont seem to get the fact the ocean and air tempature are cold that time of year.

@ kimiraikko: You can't build abridge between two cities. You'll have to build a small island at the edge of your city to end the bridge, then make a neighbor connection, and continue the bridge in the other city.

@Legosim: Now, I know this is only a game, but I think that island is going to get in the way of your shipping lanes. Here's what I would have done.

Now, island 1 can be connected to the main land if you please, but I like islands so I'm gonna keep it seperate. There can also be a small island in the small area to the left of island 2 and above island 3, but this allows for expansion, and keeps commerce moving smoothly! I will admit though, my islands are not as design oriented as yours. I like the style you have with the gaps throughout the islands.
