Questions about custom seaports

I have a few questions about custom seaports (by Pegasus and others). Sorry if this is in the wrong place or has been asked a million times before, I couldn't find what I was looking for 15.gif.

1. Do you need a specific water mod to match with the seaports or do they look good on any water type?

2. Do the seaports actually work with shipping off industrial goods? And if not, how do you solve that problem?

3. Is there a tutorial anywhere on how to level the ground to build seaports?

4. I want to use Pegasus' seaport set but there are so many different files, I have no idea which ones I need. If someone could push me in the right direction that would be great!

Thanks a lot!

1. As far as I know, the seaports work with all water textures.

2. Yes, the seaports ship off goods.

3. There is, on SimPeg. If you're not registered there, I recommend doing so. http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?topic=4861.0

The terrain leveller is here. http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item604

4. As for the seaport set, I got them all, and they're all good. So I can't really tell you which ones to get.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Yep, I would just recommend to get all of them and then you can weed out which ones you don't want/need.

Custom seaoprts designed to be placed next to the game's normal water do not need specific water mods. There might be one or two designed for specific appearances, but most aren't.

Yes, seaports "act" like small, city-edge areas in the interior of a map that freight will be moved to.

Mentioned above.

Pegasus's current seaports really only consist of three actual 'seaport' lots (There is also a canal seaport designed to be used with his canal set.): the Container Seaport, the Break-Bulk Seaport, and the Pier Seaport. Along with each, style, he created a series of lots in the same style. That could be why you think there are so many. The non-seaport lots aren't required. You can use only the specific ones you want or all of them to mix and match.

Additional note: When dealing with custom seaports, remember to always follow the installation instructions and include all required files. It is also a good idea to backup any cities using custom seaports as any errors could become permenant.
