How many players connected at the same time?

We know a single planet can host up to 10.000 cities. Currently they host 3.700-7.100 cities but these figures include multiple cities belonging to the same player and test cities created during the 7-day offer.

Cities XL being a MMO game, one of its feature is to have lots of active players connected at the same time to maximize trades and interactive behaviour. That's why I'm really curious to know how many active players are connected at the same time on your planet. Can you reply to this thread with this information? It's usually easy when zooming out as far as possible on the planet view to estimate the number of light green dots.

Well, since cities created during the 7-day offer are deleted after the account expires you can pretty much just divide the number of cities by 5 to get the number of active players. After that it's probably about 10-20% online at a time

    Thanks for your reply.

Anyway I'd like to get real numbers (as seen in game) and not theorical ones.

It definately varies greatly by the time that you check the population

I left work early one day - 1:30 EST and there were VERY few people online. The number online seemed to steadily increase however, a little later in the evening things really pick up.  In the World of Warcraft server I played on there were ques to get online at busy times of day - almost always weeknights from 6-9pm.  It seems that earlier there are few people home, a little later people get home from school/work, and later still people get done with homework/dinner etc.  Furthermore, the day of the week certainly has an effect - in WoW the instances reset on Tuesdays so Tuesday night everyone logged in for fresh starts.  I'm certain there will be cyclical gameplay of some sort in CXL.

I'm not sure it really all that 'easily estimated' and I'd be especially skeptical of one persons estimates for one time versus another's persons estimates at another time.  I don't tend to look very closely, but I have seen literally 'just a few people' on at times (7am EST), and 'hundreds' at other prime times.

I tried to estimate at 5:15 EST on Pollux.  I'll check again tonight and see how I feel about submitting estimates to this thread... perhaps I'll check and update daily?  I noticed big cities have big green dots and small cities have small dots, which makes counting the tiny ones a little tough.  I'm not sure how accurate I can be.  If anyone else is interested in checking Pollux at the same time perhap we can compare for accuracy?

Thanks for your answer. But again it's theory, and that's not the point of this topic. I'm still looking for real numbers coming right from the game. I'm even surprised someone didn't ask sooner.

Something interesting would be to know:

    - what is 'very few people' when you come back home at 1:30 EST.

    - on evenings.

    - weeknights 6-9pm.

    etc.

Peak-times will be "after dinner" during weekdays (7ish till 10-11) and of course, weekends! If you want to have a fair estimate of the max number of users online, check during these times...

    Yes... thanks...

    Anyone for real numbers?

I'm surprised how people don't care about this information.

Number of green dots manually counted on Pollux:

    Mon 10/26 5:15 EST - 52

    Tue 10/27 5:35 EST - 48

    Wed 10/28 5:15 EST - 92

    Sun 10/31 5:15 EST - 170

    Mon 11/2 5:50 EST - 126

    Thu 11/5 5:15 EST - 116

    Fri 11/6 5:30 EST 123

*Times vary due to real life 2.gif

I realize 5:15 is early, but that's the time I'm regularly on and willing to count.  I intend to edit this post somewhat daily, though I won't count every day.
