I've had enough of crashes

I've had enough. I'm running Win7 RC (build 7100), and have more than suitable hardware. Cities XL crashes about 4 times per hour of gameplay. Sometimes it will go an hour, or maybe more... sometimes it crashes on the planet screen. The problem is with core.dll. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Support takes far too long. I purchased this game to play, not to sit and wait around for.

What are your hardware specs?

Cities has only ever crashed once on me. And I've had several sessions that the game was running for over 5-6 hours straight (not playing the whole time mind you). I'm also running Win 7 Build 7100.

Q6600 @ 2.8Ghz (2.4Ghz is stock - but same problems at stock speed)

    4Gb 800mhz RAM

    8800 Ultra

    P35-DS4 mobo

I can't play it at the moment. I tried 5 times after my original post, and it crashed 6 times, each within 2 mins.

Could it be Windows 7 related? I'm still using Vista and it's crashed once (when I had several other programs running).

Other's don't have a problem with win7. I've tried compatibility modes too. I often get random 5 second freezes... cars move, text box updates, but I can't press buttons. Then, more often than not, that leads to a crash.

That surprises me that your are still waiting on support, I have found them rather organized in that area, anyway, I have only had the game crash once on me in single player, maybe a windows 7 problem, but what do you expect from new version of windows, it properly has more errors in it then CXL does

As I said in my first reply, I'm using 7 as well. I've not experienced any issues except for the one crash. I expect it may be related to something else. Additionally Win7 has been pretty solid for me, with just the RC. I've probably had more crashes in the same amount of time on XP than I have in 7, tbh...

Anyway do you experience crashes anywhere else? done a memory test? All your cooling is working properly? How's your CPU temps?

My game started crashing today. I have only played it on Windows 7 and it has worked like a charm. But now whenever I build a road the game crashes, and building a city without roads ain't easy. Tried starting a new city on a different map but still have the same problem. The weird thing is that nothing has changed since yesterday when the game worked without any flaws for 2 sessions of about 2hrs each. No new drivers, no new hardware, no updates. Nothing. It just crashes. So far it has crashed 7 times for me, and I have restarted the computer several times and it still crashes 15.gif

Don't know if this helps i anyone but I have found that it i can get it to crash when I have other programs running in the back ground, e.g. iTunes and so on, or trying to run it on too higher setting then my poor old computer can handle.

I've been having the same problem, since I've updated to Win7 i've been getting BSOD within 5 mins of playing, didnt crash as much with XP and i never got a BSOD, i've got a E6850 and a 8800 Ultra too as the first poster. Running benchmarks and Prime95 without problems but i''m going to install another game GTA4 to see if it has problems, will report in a few.

It does have to be said that simply going to Win7 improved preformance at least 10fps better then XP but at the price of these BSOD may not be worth it.

I've had similar issues with core.dll crashing my city which started after having more than 500.000 inhabitants (not exactly)

A reboot helped but only for a couple of minutes.

I think it has something to do with the freeways, with the cars suddenly disappear at a intersection..

Well none of us are alone, apparently thousands of people are having all of there games crashing when running on Win7, name it and its crashed on Win7, so much for a better windows, hopefully they get a patch out and it'll be fixed until then were all in the same boat, screwed, by Microsoft again.

Is it Window's fault though? Sounds like the game creators probably failed to test that the game runs properly with WIN 7

Has anyone had a lockup issue and causing it to force reboot manually?  I only get a picture freeze or black screen and hear choppy music.
