Ok, so I was making some sea walls around an island, with some commercial on, using shore conforming sea walls 2007, and I noticed that I was getting more wall than usual:

I shouldn't be able to see any more than just below the fence....

It also happened here.

Then I rotated the view, and this happened:

What is going on here? I am using one of the Mas71 water mods, with the CPT TerrainMod Meadowshire being used as well.

PC specs:

Intel core 2 @ 1.66 ghz

0.99 Gb of ram

256 Mb Intel built ingraphics card (this is a laptop)

I am up-to-date with all of the patches, including the Bat nightlighting update.

If anyone can help, that would be much appreciated.

Walls are modeled to have a specific slope.. if you make the walls significantly steeper or shallower they will take on all weird looks.. including transparent from varioius angles.. remember they aren't really "models" but just 4 flat views from specific angles.. From the looks of that, I'd say you have those shores WAAAAAY too steep.. and of course how much sticks out of the water is a function of the shore elevation.. you have yours too high

aha, I didn't realize it was to do with elevation. I haven't altered the map since I downloaded it, they specifically created the islands with steep shores so the seaports and ferry terminals would be easy to place. I can learn to live with it, and it's not too bad. I won't be able to correct it, as any kind of terraforming would destroy that shore line and possible the buildings right next to it...thanks for the help and knowledge! 9.gif

To me it looks like you are using walls made by Jeronij or Mas71. Even if I'm wrong, it doesn't really matter, as the walls seem to be created for use with sunken networks or slopes on land. They are used best when placed on a slope with a height difference of 15 m from top to bottom (Use "hole digger lots" for easier building). For a pointer of correct use of these walls, have a look at the sunken networks thread.

For proper seawalls, do a STEX search on "seawall". There are a lot of nice seawalls out there, e.g. PEG's wooden waterfronts, Jeronij's seawalls (LEX link) and Marrast's embankment set (LEX link), just to mention a few.
