New to Sim4 with "serious problem"

To put it short. I make a large tile city and it stops developing after around 100000 pop. Then i try to start developing the neigbouring one and there the problem hits. Demand for dirty industry is at the bottom so there's no work for the new sims and the village dies right away.

What i've read from here is that after a relatively large city it is alll about the region but after one city rest of the region is dead.

Also a quickie question: If i have an airport in neigbouring zone does the "main" city get any benefits from it?

Only mod i'm using is NAM...and some eye candies...

Is there demand for any other types of bulidings? A city that large would seriously have a lot of pent-up demand that'd need to get satisfied by neighbors...

Also, you do have the patch, right? Which one of the pathfinding mods did you choose?

And for your quick question, no; the airport is a cap-buster, and caps don't go over from city to city.

If your demand suddnely stops its becsue you hit a demand cap. You will have to make the city more desirable to live in to get past that and move onto the next one. After it is more desirable your demand should start back up again

And about your airpot question, airports only affect the city that they are in, they have no impact on regions.

As pheonix has said, the airport will only have an effect on the city its in.

At 100000 your city is probably moving away from a need for dirty industry. What does this city currently need (check the detailed demand chart to find out)? When you start your new city, make sure it is right next to your old one (don't leave a blank city tile between them), preferably close to a residential area in your old city (if your new city is going to be jobs focussed). Incorporate your new city and let it run for a few minutes without building so that the demand chart stabilises. Then check what the city says is needed.

Also make sure you have connections between the two cities. Don't forget to give your new city water and power, as they won't automatically share with their neighbour.

    Thanks for quick reply,

The patch? I've got a deluxe from year ????, u mean Maxis patch or...?

From the pathfinding tools, i just got the NAM Jun 2009 and i understood its a " standalone" and has everything in it, so i've got no idea about that-

Your answer pretty much sums it up; "If on the Autobahn...forget the Lada..."

But please explain what i should do and in which order i should instal the mods and which mods

    Thanks in advance

A quick and easy way to beat demand caps is either... download the functional airport pack. This consists of lots (like bus depot's) that have the same effects of airports (minus the pollution). The idea is that the sims get on a bus and that takes them to the regions airport (although it doesn't actually).

Another option is to get a fuctional landmark (this is the cheaty one). and plop it, the demand for res will rise and the cap will pass.

    Good luck!!
