Game crashes at loading screen (vista 64)

So everything is fine and i'm building my city when all the of a sudden my whole computer locks up. I have to do a hard reboot and I try to start up the game again. It gets to the loading the screen and the game crashes back to the desktop. Does this constantly now. No way to get past the loadings screen.

I've tried re-installing and nothing. I'm on my second reinstall now.

So now I've wasted 40 bucks via steam for a steaming pile of wasted space on my computer. Can I get my money back?

Are there any similar issues being reported on the steam forum for the game?

I have Vista Home premium 64 and no problems running the game (Steam copy, not that it would matter since the client updates before you can run the game itself).

Can you start up the client at least to login etc?

Seems like your installation got corrupted, so a whole reinstall might be necessary. Try to delete all files that are associated with CitiesXL. Do full uninstall and then a Register check.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card (I have ATI driver 9.9, don't know what version Nvidea has now) and if you overclocked your system, perhaps clock it back to original settings.
