nam and plugin 793547511

ok i downloaded nam june 2009 and i dont understand what it does ive just started using the stex and downloading lots of stuff which is great. but i dont understand the nam thing dose it come with any addons or anything. is the june version just an update and i have to download the original program? or is it just a program that supports all the newtwork addons available on the stex? ive read about it on the forms and searched it and i think its supposed to have new stuff when its downloaded like bridges ect. also when i start my city i get an error message saying i need plugin 793547511 to support some addons i can still play but some buildings dont appear just the lots like the grass and stuff but the acual buildings are not there and some are just a simcity brown box also the avenues dont apear at intersections either seems weird. i have come to the conclussion i did something wrong or didnt download the supporting programs. please any help with these issuses would be great but i cant figure it out i just want a nice city thats all.

Well, the with the NAM, when you install it, you can control what gets downloaded (ex. turning lanes on roads). That plugin you are talking about might be a dependency of one of your mods, but I'm not enitrely sure about that one.

NAM is a add-on, it stands for Network Add-on Mode. It gives you different featured (or sometimes entirely new) transit networks. Avenue roundabouts, tram systems (which is a elevated train with out the elevation), and el over road are just some of the features.

It also comes with three different simulators for helping you sims find alternative routes for where they are going (to work, etc.). You can't just download NAM and install the whole file into you plugins. There are installers that you can download from the stex, or you could use the readme files, which explains what choices you have for different features.

Also if it says "need plugin 793547511" that is generally something you already have plopped in you city, or grew in you city that was in you plugin files, but you erased or it wasn't there. So if you didn't plop any NAM lots that message doesn't concern NAM.

When you download a file, many have listed dependencies that you must download for the lot to either work or show up in game.  The brown boxes that you see are what happens when you don't have the required dependencies.  

I don't think NAM has any dependencies, although there is content you can add to it after download.

Downloading a gob of crap and putting it in before you've figured out how to use them will on ly get you in deep dodo.. .. I suggest you take ALL OF IT OUT, start a NEW REGION (or wipe your old one) and put 1. The game (being sure you have the EA patches properly installed.. check out the omnibus) then adding ONLY THE NAM and whatever additioins to it you wish to use.. AND PLAY WITH IT.. not building a city necessarily.. just learning to use it and what it can do.. AFTER you've done that, THEN start getting a few specials that look good to you IN EACH CASE verifying that EACH works (also in a "sandbox" city that you don't m mind wiping) .. slowly you will build a set of things that you KNOW WORK and that you TRUST.. good luck.. rushing in is the SURE WAY TO PAIN AND HEARTACHE..

Welcome to Simtropolis.  You probably saw that the NAM does require the NAM Essentials, too, so I'm sure you have that, right?

thanks for the replys i figured out the nam its kinda cool i thought more content was in but still alot better then what maxis includes all i did was reinstall nam and it worked nicely. but now i got a whole new set of issues lol. anyways to the plugin i figured out what i needed its for the rtmt i downloaded which i didnt get the dependancies but i figured it out sort i got the simgoobers bus stops or something like that i dont remember exactly what it was called but for the sim goober download of the transit stations it has dependances which are now obsolete and not available so if anyonw know where to get these that would help me out great. i think there might be a newer version or something ill look it up again and post what i require and hopefully someone knows what i need to do. other than that id like to thank everyone for the replies and for making some cool stuff for the game makes it more realistic its great.

thanky you sc4boy it really helped now i can have bus and subway stops i didnt put them in because i didnt like the idea of using a spot for them in my large city. seem to have fix all my prolems
