Ive tried every cheat, everything but i can't get skyscrapers.  I can get the 8,000 population ones, but not the 30K commercial jobs ones.  What gives?

What are the 30k commerical jobs ones?  Certainly those are not any stage 8 in "vanilla" SC4.  Are you talking CAM?

Which ones are you talking about? I have a commerical city with jobs around 150,000 and i'm wondering if i've hit the limit....which ones are you talking about?

well ive seen peoples cities and they click on one building and it shows jobs available 30K.  Whats the max a building will go.  I'd be kinda mad if the biggest skyscraper yeilds only 8K worth of jobs.

Some people mod their building to have whatever populations they want.. its a cheat to allow more dense cities. On the other hand it's possible its part of the CAM.. they have higher stages (to stage 15 or 16?) and some building have pretty high populations.. I have one that is 52000.. BUT it also takes up a huge space.. something like 15x15 so its still in line with the population density envisioined by Maxis... I'm not sure what the guidelines gathered from Maxis buildings is, but it is not that high.. I'd say something like 1000 / tile max .. so a 4x4 building might have like 16000 capacity.. You may want to do a bit of reading on the topic if you're interested.. but.. there's nothing stopping anyone from setting up whatever cheats they want..

Well really to get high density skyscrapers, first you need enough jobs. I would try bringing thousands of jobs to the area, after that you need a relatively full city in order to generate the demand.

Another thing,

play around with taxes i.e raise low density and lower high density. This should manipulate demand.

Change the sizes of the zones,

The ideal size for a skyscraper is 4x4

Improve desirability,

Do everything and anything to raise it. Pollution; big no no. Parks; add. Traffic; lower. Traffic noise; lower. and so on.

If you're only getting the 8000 job ones, you need to download CAM and a bunch of CAMelots over at sc4devotion.com on the LEX. I've seen them go up to 25000 occupancies. There may be buildings with more though.

Also, only decrease traffic noise around Residential. It's actually good for Commercial to have lots of traffic noise.
