Muck: The answer is in Carpathia III (forum section CJs).

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

So is Civ V....anyway yesterday I put it in windowed mod and A LOT of the CTD's have disappeared..just since Civ V is a resource hog and doesnt like to use all of my resources (only 25%) I experience low FPS and frequent 2 second crashes (much more frequent than fullscreen mode). I dont know how you can play Civ V with only 2GB of RAM, honestly I just caught my memory usage at 2.5GB.

but at least its a good game 3.gif why not force it to use a custom resolution? that can also reduce CTDs, but that is a pain, try googling if anyone else gets that problem.

Couldnt find anything about custom resolution, so I'll just keep it windowed taking half the screen (taking the whole screen but still windowed is like having it full screen since it takes forever to minimize) I also made a mistake in my post above by "(much more frequent than windowed mode)." I mean "(much more frequent than fullscreen mode)."

There's an article in the omnibus about running SC4 on a custom resolution, just use it for Civ V instead 3.gif

I'd recommend running it at half your screens resolution (uses 0.25 of your resources as full screen - theoretically), and if not then you can just continue in windowed mode... you have turned the graphics options down haven't you will?..

8328. @ Cacks: Who says Civ V will recognise that code?

@Larks, indeed it isn't just a game, for some it is a way of making money, for others, it's an utter waste of time.

I bought Civ V on Saturday, haven't had a CTD with it. Although it appears I've been nuked...and I thought I was the most technologicall advanced...

Well, I think it's almost safe to say no other member has been nuked like I have before...

The code is not for the game but for the shortcut for the game, it is the same for many other programs and works with them therefore it should work with Civ V, your not altering the game in any way, just the game's 'target path' with

-CustomResolution:enabled -rRESOLUTIONxRESOLUTION

as an example:

-CustomResolution:enabled -r800x600 -w

this forces the game to run in 800x600, you could add a -W at the end as well (maybe) that will make it run in a window (I'll have to test that)... it should work for all applications.

Baseball is a game, being a baseball fan is a form of recreation. To that end, I seek enjoyment out of it rather than any sort of unwavering vested interest. If the Yankees win it all, I will be happy. But if they don't, I will brush it off and say "whatever" rather than getting all disappointed - because if I permit myself to be disappointed, I'm inevitably setting my self up for more years of disappointment than happiness, and where's the fun in that?

My reaction to my local team winning is pretty much the same as my reaction to my local team losing - "Oh, OK".

Do you want to see an image of False Maria in Yoshiwara?

Baseball is an OK sports game but I am not a giant fan of sports (I only watch sports at stadiums unless it is a major game with one of my favorite teams).

why did this not post?

Probably 8337 by now...

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

It certainly isn't something to make a fuss about, but at the same time, having a team you care about can make an otherwise mundane day all the more exciting.

Edit. Sniped

6 outs remain in Petco park from the Braves to get back in first place GO CUBS!!!!

Also if the Pittsburg Pirates don't win 3 more games they will pass the 1963 Mets as the team with the worst road season in history. Wow bad year to be a Pirates fan.
