New Region Not loading

 I made a region in photoshop and did everything right to get it into sim city 4, but it won't load the map. It's been half an hour. I'm sure it's not because my computer is too slow. Can anyone help with this? Maybe i missed a step?

Could you attach the map to your post? I'll have a go at importing it.

(I say attach because I can't view anything that's posted to Imageshack, which obviously presents a problem).

But before you resort to that, check a few things out first:

1. Is the config suitable for the terrain image?

2. Did you add the 1 pixel the terrain image needs to work?

Well, that's all I can think of that'll help - check those, then send it over to me - or if it's a STEX one, tell me which one it is.

 I attached it. I checked the config, I made sure I added one pixel, I did everything right. Just doesn't let me. I haven't got the config-- but it's just an 8 kilometer tall x 12 kilometer wide region, and all the cities are medium, so an 8x12 green config.

The first error I see is that you are trying to use a png format, you need to use a 8 bit 256 color grayscale in jpg format.

Any decent image editor should let you change the image format - just "Save As" and choose .jpg (.bmp and .gif work as well, right?), and you should be set. Hopefully.

.gif will not work...either has to be an 8-bit .bmp or an 8-bit jpg.  Also, the smaller the city tiles, the longer it takes to render, at least from my experience.  A map that size sometimes took an hour to render.

You can't just "save-as" the file as a jpg.  Open it in Photoshop and convert it to a 8 bit grayscale, then save it as a jpg.
