Hi, I was wondering if for the hsr transit hub does the track half to go all the way through and have a closed loop for it to work or can you just put the track into one end of it and not the other?

It's been my experience that the tracks for any network (including the HSR) can end at the stations and do not need to make a loop. Sims will simply go back-and-forth.

    Thanks alot captcity!

I also have another question. I am trying to build a vaste rapid transit system for a moderately dense city and I was wondering what the pros and cons are between commuter train, HSP and the bullet train mod. I cant decide on which system I want to commit to.

I don't understand the bullet train thing either. I'm terrible at choosing which transits to use. I'm not even sure what the benefits are to the Ground Light Rail.

I have never used BTM (Bullet Train Mod) but I've always read it as an inter-cities very fast transit network. Seems that makes commuting between cities really fast and allows your sims to work a long way from home having low commuting times. City Journals like Greater Terran Region by Haljackey use BTM with excellent results, you can check it out. Anyways, I don't know what's the main difference between BTM and HSR.

About GLR (Ground Light Rail) I've used it and I think it's useful in the way you can place track-in-road and track-on-road, what allows you to get very good European-like tram networks and you don't waste valuable space placing standard subway stations.

Aside from the very different look of the two networks, using the latest version of Traffic Simulator Z (v1.2 Beta 3), the Bullet Train is 50% than HSR.

It's 50% faster. Capacity for monorail/HSR/BTM is identical. The commuter rail is still a third faster than subways, el rail, and GLR.

sorry to hijack the thread but its a related question. when your building a ground rail network do you need a passenger station on booth sides of the track at one location or is one suffice. I mean does a single station on one side of the track service inbound and outbound lines?

The worst thing about bullet train and hsr is that its brutal trying to get through elevated RHW and sunken RHW, makes things very ugly, wish there was a workaround.

The only use for loops is for the U-Drive-It missions.. they frequently require a loop.. If I actually want to use the UDI (for example to get certain rewards) I just make a loop and take it out later.. lol.. Oh and in real life GLR frequently has loops.. SFBT I think makes a very nice station that has a loop built in (it pretty big but not unlike what might be found in a major city) The game as it normally runs will harly even use a loop if you build it in as that is not a normal path the simulator looks for..
