Im not new to the the game ive had it for a while but was never really into playing it.  I found that recently i have more time to playing the game and stumbled across this website and realize that there is much more to this game.  If someone could help me out here with everything it would be greatly appreciated.

Well first of all, Welcome to Simtropolis!!

The first thing you will need to download is the latest NAM (Network Addon Mod). This gives you loads more options for transport- roundabouts, new highway intersections, Trams, elevated road/1-way road/avenue - Be careful when downloading though. On one of the pages there are options, be sure to click the LEFT HAND PLUGIN if your cars drive on the left hand side of the road. Also it is probably best to choose Simulator Z -medium , that is a traffic simulator and improves the way your sims move about.

NAM- https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=21355 (PC)

https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=21373(MAC)

There is another site you should register to Its SC4 Devotion (https://www.sc4devotion.com/)

The LEX there is alot like the STEX here also the following addon is based there. Be aware that you need to register to the fourums and the LEX seperatly.

CAM- CAM stands for Colossus Addon Mod, what this does is basicly errrm, O.K

Buildings have stages that are (MAX in an un-modded game) R-7 C-7 I-5 Ag-1 Each stage has its own set of buildings, the higher the stage the better the building, you ok so far???

CAM changes those stages to R-15 C-15 I-10 Ag-7. This is all good but there are no MAXIS buildings (Buildings that came with the game) that can reach those stages so you have to find CAM and "CAMpatible" buildings on the LEX. Be aware to also download ALL of teh dependencies for everything otherwise you WILL get brown paper boxes growing in your cities.

CAM-https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1008

RHW (Rural Highway Project) This is another type of highway that can be compleatly personalised.

Example- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REH8OfL_5EE

You can create up to 10 lane highways to carry tons of traffic. Also it contains a system called MIS (Modular Interchange System). You create off/on ramps with this, Again completely personalised.

RHW:https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=853

https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=853(MAC)

SO i have to go to work now but good luck and if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask.

If we have anything here its nice people

Remember there is no things that you HAVE to download, everything is optional (although i would recommend NAM) and just skim through the STEX and LEX because you never know what youll find and if you download all of the dependencies there normally is nothing to worry about.

GOOD LUCK!!

Isn't it stage 8 for the biggest residential/commercial buildings? Other then that, good post.

Other things you should look at are all the great BATs on the STEX. There are plenty; I like to choose the ones I like, then I download 'em. Some of these downloads require dependencies, like what was said before. Make sure you download all the dependencies before you try the download in-game, because it might cause crashes, glitches, etc.

And if you want some building ideas, go to the "Show us your___" Threads, those can really help if you run out of ideas.

Welcome to Simtropolis!

Welcome, audubonervin! It must be a lot to absorb, especially after six years of custom content was created!

Simgoober has made a variety of very good-looking and useful buildings for the game, so I suggest you check him out on the STEX

Also, I'd head over to simpeg.com and create an account. Pegasus has whole sets of buildings to upgrade your shorelines, from seaports to marinas.

There is also a multitude of articles in the omnibus to help you make the most out of features in the game.

After you download the buildings, extract them to your My Documents/SimCity4/Plugins folder. If there is an installer included, run it, and always read the readmes as they may specify if there are any dependencies.

Nope, you can download as many things as you want without having to restart your computer, but if you run the game in the background, you should restart that after you're done downloading.

    Hello audubonervin...

The brown boxes show when there is something missing (a model) from a lot that you are trying to use in the game. These are often contents of other people's work and/or separate files and are called 'Dependencies'. They are usually listed in a Readme file that accompanies a download or as instructions in the download listing. So, look for something called 'Dependencies' and download those also. Hope this helps... Let us know if problems persist...

As a lessoned learned from that i will start reading the readme file there seems to be alot of useful information in there. I tried it and i found that there were a couple of dependencies that needed to be downloaded also. A big thank you goes out to you and everyone else that has helped me out. Like bigthing posted earlier nothin but friendly people here

First, get the NAM. It adds much to transportation such as roundabouts, new highway interchanges, etc.

Then register on SC4D's LEX and get the CAM. It allows for new stages.

Then get the RHW. It allows you to build up to 10-lane highways. It also includes the MIS which allows for more realistic interchanges.
