My second Try at a City Journal, welcome to Rochester. Not really based on the city that I live in, which is Rochester, NY.

VITAL STATS:
Region Population: 453,000
Average City Age: 15 years
Wards: 14 Wards of the City so far, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are all located downtown, with the wards following a clockward numbering pattern.
AIRPORT: Greater Rochester International Airport, the gateway to the Rochester Region....located in the 5th ward.
SEAPORT: Located in the 12th and 15th wards, there is an extensive ferry system.
MASS TRANSIT: RAPID, Rochester Area Rapid Trans, owns and operates the cities Bus and Intercity Rail services, as of now, over 30% of the population uses some form of Rapid Transit during the day, with most coming on Trains/Subways.

WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT AN OVERVIEW OF THE REGION

    DOWNTOWN PICTURES:

The Crown Jewel of my Region, is downtown, the hub of all that goes on in the City. The State Capital is located here as well as the National Firefighters museum, University of Rochester, Mercy Medical Center, Bank of Simerica, and the Bank of Simerica Stadium. Around 40,000 workers commute into the loop every day, most of the skyscrapers are located within that loop of freeway.

The newest construction in the downtown area includes the Rochester Convention Center, and the National Museum of Art.

My Favorite part of the city would have to be the stadium district, if you get really close you can see everybody on the streets, crowding the cafe's and other such shops.

Your comments, questions and suggestions are always welcome, as well as what you would like to see in the region/city.

Looks surprisingly realistic. You should stick to the same formula - just try and bring the downtown closer to the coast.

Other than that, can we see more closeups?

Yes, the downtown needs to be closer to the coast and a little more greenery needs to be added IMO

I like the way you did the highways. The downtown is also very nice. Hope to see more pictures.

We get FOX Rochester WUHF channel 31 with the 10'o'clock news here in Thunder Bay, ON. On channel 38! Anyways, It's looking good so far! To quote a University of Rochester student Canadians don't have any heros, and not much history. Sure, but we get all of you tv for free, and you have to pay for ours! And ours is crap! Canadians know Anericans better than they think! Oh, right, the topic. Ummm, keep up the good work! And I have nothing against Rochester, NY. That tv station has Simpsons 3 times a day! And again, I'm off topic. Some close up pictures would be nice!

I too like the highway layout, and the downtown area.  It's not a sea of skyscrapers and I personally think that makes it look all the more realistic.

Looks pretty cool. I like the highways but agree that downtown should be closer to the coast.

The Downtown being a little away from the coast is true to the real Rochester which has a downtown that is away from the coast itself. 2.gif (In response to every one tellnig you to move your downtown closer to the coast.) I've only been to Rochester once or twice....I'm from the town that neither Rochester or Buffalo want to claim as under their sway...Warsaw lol.22.gif

I've seen pictures of Rochester, and it's downtown is NOT near the coast. The downtown is a good mile away from the coast. I think Livonia is near the coast. Their news is on RIGHT NOW! (10:44) but I'm not watching it, because Law and Order is on. Oh, look up Rochester on Mapquest. If your lucky, It'll be the ne with the aeral photo option. You can see that the downtown is not on the coast. You can use www.digitalglobe.com , too. But it'll take longer to load.

Rochester's actual downtown is on the Genessee River almost exactly 6 miles away from Lake Ontario at it's closest point.  The towns of Charlotte and Irondequoit are themselves on the lake.  BTW I loved Seabreeze Park! <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif>

I actually am going to locate a smaller commercial district on a coastal point. Although my main downtown will be located away from the coast. It's jsut the way that I want it to be. Yes my hometown's downtown is located around 6 miles from the coast, Charlotte is actually part of the City of Rochester not it's own seperate entity. Anyways back to this Rochester. These are only pictures from my downtown pictures, it's a little tour, and only because its too late! <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif>

This is the capital park, where all of my government buildings/facilities are. The Black tower in the upper right hand corner is the Federal Building, and along that role are the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Theatre, the Valiance County Courthouse, and extra governmental buildings. Along with the Mayors Mansion, and City Hall. You can also see Mercy Medical Center on the bottom, along with the Colleen R. Lang Library.

    /idealbb/files/CapitalPark.JPG

City Hall, the Federal Building, International Art Museum, Colleen R. Lang Library, Statue to Progress on Capital Hill, and the Rochester City Museum are located in the park that is known as Capital Park a place where all Rochesterians can get together and munch on a white hot with an ice cold pop! <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif>

    /idealbb/files/CityHallPark.JPG

This is my project so to speak, creating a functioning downtown, I'll be phasing out the landmarks, and adding to the commercial space. You can kinda see the Statue to Heroes, and the Downtown Center Park, along with the International Internet Stock Exchange, the controversial Rochester Central Station, and the over 50,000 jobs that populate the loop

City is coming along great! I don't like how there is a Radio Station in that park, though.

Well my letters were not that big compared to how a lot of people post on here. Also if I put posts in private msgs, the chances of getting a reply is very slim.

I realize you're kind of new here, but one of the biggest no-nos around ST is reviving dead threads. This thread hasn't been posted in for over 1 1/2 years. So next time, be sure to just leave it alone, OK?
