Hey whiteshark365,

You did good job on your city of Crystal Junction with plenty of best clarification of maps and as well on going with the simulator city.
I would like to add my personal suggestion imput in your region/cities view would potentially add new beltway. The numbering options would be either CJ-211 or CJ-248. CJ stands for Crystal Junction instead of Interstate. For best result for unpopulated portion of new beltway would need interim avenue or highway then when it intersect the road..it must quickly convert to avenue then highway again. That means you would save the cost for build the on/off ramps.   Next step is Saratose Pkwy would extend to CJ beltway for more convient trip Northwest portion.  Also the growth of Madrid will be strong shape which will looking foward the southern most proposed community/city sugguested name to be: Madirid Heights for better land value for residental zoning plus pleasure of commercial lots.

I hope you like the way of my help of your city. Plus I am showing the diagram the proposed CJ beltway. It was obtained from this forum, then I add the proposed lines for CJ 211 or 248.

Nice work, Sharky! Crystal Junction is really a oasis in desert. 9.gif If you are trying to make the city realistic, I can give a hint to you: That airport is extremely small in real scale. Real international airport has at least one runway, which is 3-3,5 km (~2 miles) long. But in case that city was founded on somewhere in 30th century, it's not a big problem, 'cause propably they have much better aircraft then.

Oh well, have bsome bunnies: 24.gif24.gif24.gif24.gif24.gif Aren't they cute? 42.gif

Hey Shark... I don't suppose there's any way you could send me your region via e-mail so I could delete the cities and build on it for myself hmm? All the regions I have are boring, and i'm looking for some fun ones(I have no idea how to use photoshop to create my own), and would love building on yours just for my own personal enjoyment. You don't have to... but if you want to, my e-mail is Raziaar@augustmail.com

hehe

Thanks for all the comments guys.

    Answers to questions and proposals.

Simmoon04:  Your proposal would be an great way to provide a superior traffic system for Crystal Junction. It would reduce traffic considerably for commuters who live and work on the outer parts of the city and even in the inner parts. However, Crystal Junction only has about 120,000 within it's metro area, which by city and traffic standards is a very small population. It already has a extensive highway system, that is larger then most cities it's size. I use this comparison based off of looking over maps and population statistics for US cities across the country. Some cities as large as 350k have only one interstate, some over 100k in california for example have none. Beltways usually are built on citys in excess of 1 million or larger. Perhaps in the future of Crystal Junction when the population swells towards the seven digit mark I'll implement your proposal. I do want to let you know I appreciate the work you put into to it.

Zeddic: The airport size is more based off of sim city standards then real life standards. A 2 mile long runway wouldnt even fit on the map for where the airport is located. And the short runways were the premade runways that were in the airport pack.

idirk41i: I used a combination of airport packs, but primarily joergs was the one I used.

Raziaar: I can give you a copy if I knew how to upload the region as a jepg, which i don't. If you know how to do this you can instruct me on how and I can give you a copy of the region. I do have a signifficant portion of the region developed, however I did make a backup of the region before I ever began any construction, just in case something happened to the city making it corrupt, or had some sort of unfixxable development problem. But if you want it I will try my best to provide you with a copy of the region, the config file, and the desert terrian mod.

I don't think it's possible to change a region back into a greyscale, unfortunatly.

The airport looks great, it's more important that it fits the game's scale rather than that of actual runways 44.gif

I've never used Jeorg's pack (never had a city large enough), so I don't know how flexible it is, is it possible to have all those airplanes face towards the terminal?

A couple of the structures have jobs and a capacity. The control tower has a 1,000,000 capacity.

I completely agree. I have made one realistic-sized airport nad it fits almost an whole big area. And as I said, they propably have much better aircraft on 30th century. 2.gif

The beltway was a proposal by simmoon, he posted a pic eariler in this fourm. So far, I havnt decided on whether to implement it since Crystal Junction is too small of a city for there to be a need for one.

No there aren't any high density zones of any time in the city, with the exception of industrial. There probably will not be any high density zoning until the city reaches about 250 or 300k population.

it seems like the east side might be spread out enough, but the beltway idea on the west side was too close to the existing inner loop.

it might not hurt to have something east of the city from the 48 to the 11 (running somewhat along the proposed route) to help accomodate future growth, and encourage lower commute times.

i suppose it's up to if the funding/construction would be worth it though.

i agree with DH if you did build the beltway it would encorage growth on the outside of the city and bring more wealth to downtown....

ok i know there isnt a beltway in most cities under 200K but in WVA the only beltway is in a city under 45K (Wheeling to be exact) so if you have to and have the money for it go for the beltway!!

thats just my opinion (disregard it if you still dont want to do the beltway until you want to cuz it is your city. what do we know?? LOL)

Very goog looking city u got coming along there. You can really see how it has expanded to the north east. Is your city going to continue expanding that way or is it going to expand around the airport as well.

For the time being most of the expansion is going to be to the north and the east. The south and west will expand as well, but not as rapidly as the north. This will continue probably until the city nears the quarter million mark.
