I'm currently working on several greater Los Angeles metro area, including Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.  Only problem is they're not finished yet and should be done before the end of the year at the very latest.

After digging through my unfinished map folders, I dug up what I have of the Riverside-Ontario-San Bernardino area.  It's quite a large map, 13x10 large tiles or 52km x 40km.  I haven't rendered it yet though so all I have is the Terraformer image.  Along with that, I also have the satellite images from google maps to try and pin-point the maps borders.

    Terraformer image:

This map is accurately scaled to within a half kilometer in size and is also accurately scaled for elevation.

This is a satellite view from Google, but it is too big to post here...

This is the area I think the map covers, though not completely sure yet.

Wow that is awesome and exactly what I was looking for, especially the western and southern parts (Corona, Riverside, Norco, Home Gardens, etc.).  My parent's neighborhood is even in that map.  Would it be possible to render this one and get it onto the STEX in the near future?  I don't really know too much about hte whole map-making process, so not really sure how long rendering takes, but from what I can tell, that map pretty much covers the majority of the Inland Empire and it'd be a great one to build on.

Good thing I decided to take a last look before I signed off for the night.1.gif  I'm working on finding the right terrain mod for to render it with and when I do, I'll get it done and packaged up.  Can't say exactly when, but sooner than originally planned44.gif

Are there going to be any Texas maps? Like North Texas, or the DFW area?

A really good map would be the Possum Kingdom Lake area. It's in the lake country, and has tons of hills and valleys/lakes. Possum Kingdom Lake has more shoreline than any other lake in the state of Texas. There are also several creeks and rivers in the area. The Brazos River is one of the most important rivers in the state, and Posssum Kingom Lake is part of it.

    That's just one suggestion though!

Santa Maria looks great. I ran around there for a while and it's amazing to see the geography from this angle.

Dallas, Houston and Fort Worth are still under construction, Waco, Austin and Wichita Falls are finished and will be released within the next couple of weeks.  As for mapping other areas of Texas, I have no immediate plans to do so, but I will be keeping your suggestions in mind when I do.

It's good to hear that you liked it.  There are a few more California maps to go yet after some of the others States I've mapped areas from are released.  I have an SF-Oakland-Berkeley-Sausolitos region, Oceanside, Escondido, the Channel Islands, Santa Catalina, Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario and one or two others left over yet.

Ok, the Athens Georgia map is now available on the STEX and here is a peak of tomorrows release....

Cool.  As you may have noticed, I'm releasing the five maps from Georgia, then we'll see where I bounce to next.  I have some really good looking Indiana and Iowa maps waiting in the wings, as well as those finished Texas maps.44.gif

Very nice work on the Georgia maps!  One note, I'm having trouble installing your Atlanta map.  When I import image in Terraformer it says that NHPAtlanta.SC4 has the wrong dimensions.

Thanks for telling me about that, the file had the wrong config.  I've replaced the old config with a new one of the correct size and re-uploaded.  Sorry about the inconvenience.

The Columbus Georgia map is now available on the STEX.  Here's a peak at tomorrows release...

Awesome! I've downloaded every Georgia map so far!

P.S.- Do you know if there is a tutorial on how to make USGS maps in to regions anywhere? Because I would really like to know how to make one of my home town.

    Thanks!

I found one, but it said that the section wasn't created yet. It said that someone needs to add information by clicking edit this page.

8x7 large tiles huge?  Large yes, huge uh-uh.  I have Dallas, Ft Worth and Houston coming soon in which all 3 are 11x10's.  As for Sacramento, sorry, can't do it and here's why.  Too much of the city is below sea level and I've tried several times tinkering with elevation levels and no luck.  The same goes for any city below sea level, like New Orleans for instance, or Rotterdam in Europe.

I don't know what to tell you then except to maybe have one of the admins figure out why you got that message or if there is anything they can do about it.  What's your hometown by the way?  I'd be more than happy to whip up a quick map for ya, most of these maps I've made take less than a couple of hours to do, including the rendering.

My home town is called Graham, Tx. It's really small, like 15,000 people, but I would really like to build on it. It's like an hour south of Wichita Falls.

    Thanks!9.gif

lol! Thanks! You're awesome! But be aware that there are two Grahams in Texas. Mine is in Young County. The other is in Garza County and has like a population of 2! (seriously, I'm not exaggerating!) Lol!

    Thanks again!
