To get a pic of your desktop, hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard. This will take a pic of whatever is on your screen, like a desktop Then open up MS Paint (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint). Hit Ctrl + V to paste. Then save as a JPG. Simple as that!

Nothing does happen when you hit print screen on your keyboard, you have to go to MS paint and hold ctrl and press v so it will come up on your screen and then save as bmp, and then go to whatever other image editing program you have and save as jpg (because paint lowers quality).

What print screen does is it saves the screenshot to your clipboard. So you have to then open MS Paint and paste the image in off your clipboard. And iff your screen resolution is higher than 800x600, than you'll have to resize it. A 1024x768 image resized 78% Horizontal and Vertical will reveal a 799x600 image. Also, if you save it as a .jpg, it will result in color loss. Jpgs are the only filetype you can upload to Simtropolis. But I suggest instead saving it as a .bmp or .png and host the image offsite. Then you'll have no color loss and you'll save ST bandwidth!

Taking a break from megaman, this time around I've opted for some awsome digitally generated imagery by a very talented artist at deviantart by the name of airage. You can look at the source image, and all his other stuff here: http://airage.deviantart.com .

<ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/desktop061005.bmp align=baseline>

Keep in mind, though, that this image here is in affect at half size. It's a 1600x1200 image on a 1024x768 desktop, and shrunk again to 799x600 to fit regulations here. The creator has a lot of awesome high resolution digital images that I strongly suggest you take a look at. Once again: http://airage.deviantart.com .

And appropriate as well. I daresay the admins and mods would disagree with that picture 19.gif.

Great desktops guys! Maybe I will post mine in a little while. If only I could get a full icon set from deviant art to work, I would really have a custom desktop, but I am having problems figguring out which directory to place it in. Anyone have any ideas? 42.gif

I find it hard using icon sets, so I use iconpackager . It's really easy to use! It is commercial, but there is a free trial. Plus there are loads of user made icon sets for it at Wincustomize . I personally use the Cobalt icon set. You can see the icons in my desktop screenshots.

@scififan68:

Since MS paint comes standard with windows, anyone running windows has it, unless it's somehow been deleted. I have it pinned to my start menu since I use it so much, but it's still in its normal spot. Have an image:
<ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/location%20of%20paint.bmp align=baseline>

If it's not there, it's either been moved or deleted, in which case I would search for it. If it's been deleted.... then, you'll need to re-acquire it somehow... copy it off a friend's computer onto a CD (it may or may not fit on a floppy disk, I don't know).. or you can probably find it for free to download on the internet somewhere.....
