    Day 51

    Today's games:

    1stcredfinal6uv.jpg

St. Charles grabs a win that puts them in close contention for the Northwest while Redmont's hopes in the Northeast seem more and more hopeless.
Injury Report: St. Charles' Gauthier should return soon after recovering from an injury.

    2sutafffinal0fy.jpg

Sutherland's win lets them jump over Buffalo to take the top spot in the Southwest while Arcadian loses an opportunity to grab the top of the Northwest.

Sephora somehow staves off the inevitable and holds June Isle to a tie. While the Sharks remain at the top of the league, they can't be happy with their performance against the league's worst team or the injury that hampered their efforts this match.
Injury Report: June Isle's Elias out 14 weeks with a pulled groin.

    4hernbmfinal4zn.jpg

Hersonburg stay close in the CentralWest while the New Berlin Magicians can't seem to break out of the pack in their division, the Southeast.
Injury Report: Hersonburg's Demitra should return soon after recovering from an injury.

    5sbcdynfinal2lf.jpg

The Scorpions claim a tentative grasp on the top spot in the Southeast with a close win over divisional rival Dynasty.

    Day 53

    Today's games:

    1fricorfinal4mp.jpg

Friverton claim a win to move up a spot in CentralEast while Cortezlynn City just can't claw their way up from the bottom of the Southwest.
Injury Report: Friverton's Tanabe should return soon after recovering from an injury.

    2ekmilifinal8qg.jpg

East Kingston tops an injury-riddle Ilitj squad, climbing over the Rude Bruins in the standings. Ilitj is at a turning point; a few wins could get them right in the thick of things again, another loss or two and they'll be left behind.

    3royjunfinal0gv.jpg

Royal Port posts a win over June Isle, who did their part on offense but just couldn't keep the puck out of their net. The Sharks cling desperately to the top of the league but they've got company, and the pack isn't far behind.
Injury Report: Royal Port's Stuart out 3 weeks with whiplash.

    4critrifinal8zf.jpg

The Cristobal Bears make this one closer than Trimblelina City would have liked, but the Victory come out on top. Still, the overtime loss point for Cristobal leaves both teams tied for last in their division. Sounds bad, but it's one of two divisions where just four or less points separate the top from the bottom.

    5amibuffinal9vs.jpg

Amiton keep Buffalo out of the tie for the top of the league while keeping themselves close in their division.
Injury Report: Buffalo's Primeau should return soon after recovering from an injury.

    6rudherfinal9qk.jpg

Rude post another loss, but make this one closer than many - including Hersonburg - would have believed. Hersonburg remain a point off the top of the league while Rude sit at the bottom of their division and must lauch a rally in the standings soon to have any hopes of a post-season. But remember, most teams still have a dozen or so games left, so a lot can change.
Injury report: Hersonburg's Demitra should return soon after recovering from an injury.

    ATTENTION ALL SHL GENERAL MANAGERS:

The All-Star Game ( ASG ) is fast approaching.  I mean, like . . . . . our next update.  I've been away for a bit, and just now realized that we're about halfway through the season, which is All-Star time.

If you'd like your team & arena to host the ASG, PM me IMMEDIATELY with 2-3 reasons why you should host the ASG.

I will deliberate with mentarman, and we will announce our decision and feature it as a second part of the Day 54 update.

DEADLINE TO APPLY:  WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2005 7 PM EST

I'm going to go ahead and post Day 54; we can push back the All-Star Game a little bit. I don't want to have to rush it. I'm not sure how many people have PMed ryan, but I know not everyone checks this every day so I'd rather give people a bit longer to apply. Maybe we can have the All-Star Game this weekend?

Anyone else excited that NHL HOCKEY IS FINALLY HERE?! I'm going to the St. Louis Blues home opener THursday night and I'm stoked despite our abysmal loss in Detroit tonight.

    Day 54

    Today's games:

    1blhsbcfinal5me.jpg

All but one team in the Southeast played tonight, but it did little to clear up the race for the playoffs in the division. In fact, it's closer than ever with Black Lemon topping Strawberry City in a close game.
Injury Report: Black Lemon's Clymer should return soon after recovering from an injury.
Injury Report: Strawberry City's Warrener out 2 weeks with a shattered right heel.

    2satprnfinal3vj.jpg

Pern City edges out Saturna in another close game, but doesn't gain in the standings because the official league recordkeep had, er, ahem, apparently already awarded it some points mistakenly at some point. Ahem. Whoops. Hopefully everything's back in order.
Injury Report: Pern City's LeClair and White should return soon after recovering from injuries.

    3dynsutfinalcopy1ev.jpg

Another Southeast team, Dynasty, can't pull of a win but the point for the draw is enough to keep them in the three-way tie at the top of the division, not the two-way tie for the bottom. The Sutherland Stars, one of the few Western Conference teams to play tonight, use their point to enter the tie for the top of the league, which has stagnated at 24 points.

    4redarcfinal9qe.jpg

Redmont pull off an upset that keeps Arcadia from making a push in the tight CentralEast.

    5affryufinalcopy0vr.jpg

The other Western Conference team playing tonight, Arcadian, get blasted by the Rockets, another Southeast team striving in that close division. Arcadian leave the door wide open for Devonshire and St. Charles, both of which play tomorrow against beatable teams.
Injury Report: Arcadian's Hrkac out 2 weeks with a concussion.

As my NHL counterpart Sabres beat the Islanders, 6-4 last night - I'd like to move that the SHL's Sabres recieve an extra two points in the standings for scoring the most goals on opening night last night.  ( AFAIK - the Sabres scored the most goals, w/ 6. )

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

Now, then - I can't wait for the SHL's ASG.  Should be pretty sweet, eh?

By the by - I have recieved 0 applications to host the ASG.

Zero, zippo, zilch, nada, nil, bupkiss, not diddly . . . any way you slice it, I need applications.  And fast, if we're planning on having it this weekend.

The reason why:  One of us ( either mentarman or I ) needs to come up w/ a special logo to commemorate the ASG.

    In case you missed it,

Please PM ryan_sc4 immediately if you are interested in applying to be the host city for the Simtropolis Hockey League's All-Star Game.

This is an exciting opportunity to put your city on the map, and it will surely bring revenue to your city as fans flock there for the game and spend lots of simoleons in area bars, restaurants and hotels.

This game will be held in the near future. We just want to get enough applications to make it competitive and then hold a fun All-Star Game where the best of the West will face the stars of the East. Who will come out on top? Who knows until the game is played. Again, make your application by PMing ryan_sc4 with the reasons your city should be the host city.

THe All-Star Game will be held as soon as we get enough applications, ryan_sc4 selects a winner, and I can make preperations for the game. So apply today to give your city a chance!

Hmm, I'd love to host, but the team is currently in the process of moving.

And ouch, a three-way tie. Why does this always happen in my division? 3.gif

I don't exactly understand what you mean by host... Does it mean someone will fill in mentarman's position for the all-star game? If that's the case I'm not interested. But who will be in the all-star game?

jessyka - The competition is for whichever team wants to host the ASG.  The winner hosts the game.  Plain and simple.

As for game participants, it's the best of the East vs. the best of the West.  Should make for a good matchup, eh?

The decision has been made. I'll let ryan announce it, but suffice to a lot of great cities applied and we've got a great venue for our All-Star Game.

I'll probably post one more regular game tonight, then start figuring out and posting the East and West teams, and then we'll have the game.

Fellow General Managers of the SimTropolis Hockey League,

It is my great pleasure to announce the winner of the All-Star Game Venue.   This city was chosen out of many applications.  The STHL administration is sure that this venue will provide an excellent inaugural ASG experience.

Without further ado, I give you the venue of the inaugural SimTropolis Hockey League All-Star Game:

    June Isle's Shark Tank

A big congratulations goes out to mrboo001 for the winning applicaiton.  Also, a very big thank you goes out to every GM that submitted an application.

As an aside note - I feel it's only fair that I was tempted to host the ASG myself.  Good thing cooler heads ( aka mentarman ) failed.  I'm still hurting from that cross check he gave me . . . . . . . . . . .
