Day 19

 

Today's featured game:

 

We've seen the Arcadian Fighting Flippers play a few times before in featured games, but never at home. Tonight they host the Friverton Gold Stars at Arcadian Garden Arena.

 

 

Arcadian is a liberal country full of unique people who enjoy freedom.
The city was founded by Lord Prexus, the self named leader of the Arcadian people. Recently more immigrants have been moving to Arcadian.
Arcadian is a hot spot for celebrities who come to enjoy the pristine city and natural surroundings. The waters of Arcadian are home to many dolphins and marine mammals who seem interested in the human presence.
The city is an emerging high-tech/bio-tech leader mostly due to the lax stand on genetic, stem-cell, and nuclear research. Many large corporations have found a move to the city to be quite benficial for their company. Arcadian has the highest percentage of the worlds IT work force. Citizens are happy and healthy. Low commute times has helped local neighbourhoods develop into cozy communities. Parents can spend time with their kids and so sports are very popular.
With over 500,000 citizens this rapidly growing city state is becoming the worlds top destination and place to be.

With that out of the way, let's check out the action on the ice.

 

This one started out slow as both teams felt each other out. In fact, the entire first period was scoreless as both teams probed for weaknesses.

 

The second period started much the same way. About 7 minutes in, Arcadian found themselves on their second power play of the night. They were unable to score, however, and were actually in danger of giving up a short-handed goal to the Gold Stars, who pressed hard even while a man down.

 

Just seconds after their power play ended, however, Arcadian was finally able to find the opening they needed.

Friverton tried to hold their game together and put forward an offensive effort, but just four minutes later, the Fighting Flippers found the net again.

 

^^^Lumme gets his chance to put Arcadian further ahead.

 

The Gold Stars just weren't able to get themselves jump-started again after this onslaught, and late in the second period they again gave up a goal.

That was about it for excitement in this game, as the Flippas returned for the third period and focused their efforts on shutting down Friverton's offense in a successful effort to protect their 3-0 lead.

 

Friverton find themeselves hovering in the middle of their division but far behind in points. The Fighting Flippers, on the other hand, are staying competitive in their division.

Reggratta and East Kingston are both in tough divisions and needed this win, but the home ice advantage gave the Monarchs the win.

 

 

 

Emporia gets their first win by swatting the Stingers. The blockbuster trade between Sephora and June Isle went through after tonight's games, so it remains to be seen whether the trade gamble will pay off for the Stingers.

After beating up the Stars there was great celebrations in Arcadian! Unfortunately someone went a little to far! It appears the stars enraged by the loss sent giant robots to Arcadian. The robots wiped out a large neighbourhood named highbourne. There are reports of over 50,000 injuries and 50 deaths. I will post pics of this horrible deed when the Ministry of IceCream and Robot attacks releases the photos.

 

-Arcadian plans to respond to this attack by hijacking broadcast and cable stations and running non-stop reruns of Barney and Friends 24/7 for several years. Arcadian has also inaudated the stars home town computers with the Barney virus.

The Gold Stars and Mayor of Friverton are seeking legal advice after being accused of attacking Arcadian and the neighbourhood of Highbourne with giant Robots... but due to using windoze 2000 on their computer systems the Barney virus has slowed this process down considerably, crippling the town. They have one overtime loss as well.

I think they are a top team, but hardly unbeatable. They were just lucky to start the season with such a streak. Cristobal is just the opposite, starting with a discouraging losing streak, but that doesn't mean they can't win. They got their heads together and have been on the upswing lately and caught the Stars in a downswing.

 

I think perhaps the Sutherland winning streak is working against them now. They aren't sure how to handle losing and are having a tough time with it. They just need to realize they are human and can lose, and that it's the next game that matters most, not the last.

 

Now I wish Rude would just get a win.
