I've decided to try my hand at BATting, while learning 3ds Max in the process (I got tired of seeing it's case collecting dust on the shelf). Todd (simhottody) has volunteered to help me out in the process (and so far a great deal, I must say). Hopefully I can get some extra advice and tips from this thread... well, it's all downhill from here, folks!

This is the building being modeled:

I've actually been in there before (the food is really good, that I can say 3.gif).

It will likely be a 2x1 W2W.

If schedule allots, tomorrow I might see if I can drive over there with my camera and get some good photos of it (and if the staff is willing, get some measurements too, although I doubt it).

It certainly looks like a good start, and with Todd helping you, I'm sure it'll turn out great! I don't have any advice to offer now, but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Good luck!

Hmm, there is something fishy going on here... I have a model EXACTLY like that! 17.gif

And yes, some pictures would be great, especially of the west side (the shorter one).

Only thing I would do here, when I'm not around to guide you through this particular work, try making something else on your own. Nothing complicated, but just enough to familiarize yourself with the commands you have already tried and perhaps play with some new ones.

Following this assignment, we will begin on your midterm which consists of modeling and textureing the Woolworth Building. Tolerance of +/- .01m, you will have 3 hours to hand in your work. 11.gif

beebs: Yes it is. And it's good!

    nofunk: Thanks!

todd: I got the west overhang done, and I'm working on the diagonal one. Also, when you get back on MSN, I have a bunch of photos for you to gander at! And measurements!

Hey, you have 3ds max and you dont use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats a crime, I wish I could afford it, but I like gmax. Anyway looks like a good start, and I dont think you really need to measure the building. Just eyeball it, unless your a perfectionist.! Does anyone make original buildings? I just take ideas from buildings. When you take the pictures make sure they are usable as textures, but im sure you know that. good luck and hope to see more.

I actually do have quite a few "original" ideas in my head, but unfortunately they're a bit too ambitious for me, considering my current 3ds max skills. 3.gif

Also, for those who want to conform, here's a bigger pic.

Hopefully more screenshots of the BAT tomorrow...
