Where can i pay for the extra content? They havn't said anything about a possibility to pay for that content that aren't free. We have to subscribe to the stupid "Planet Offer". Why would i do that when i'm not interested at all in playing the game online?

For the new content that they are now intending to release for the PO subscribers only (from the beginning they always said both modes would get all updates) they should also offer a subscription, for a heavily reduced price, for only the new content but without the stupid and totally unnecessary crap called "Planet Offer".

Originally they said the patches and new content would be free for both modes, yes. But don't expect that anymore. They recently said in blogs and in the FAQ at citiesxl.com that new content are for PO-only.

Patches should hardly be considered as a service we should be grateful neither. Almost all companies are giving out 'free' patches. I've never seen a company charge for bug-fixing prices. Wouldn't surprise me if Monte Cristo did it though, they're greedy enough.

Wow, that was not a rude, and arrogant way to respond.  :4.gif

Cities XL can get worse from here from a development standpoint. Think about the poor Spore-o-philes, how the game went downhill, but Monte Cristo shouldn't be considered "greedy". They are a fairly young company but I think Cities XL is over their heads. Consumers should not be expected to take place in an optional online part of a game to download single player content.

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

An English version will hit a huge population and if there are some weird flaws it could ruin the product image. A smaller release in their native language should allow them to more easily fix any problems and then they could release a flawless product in mine.quote>

I have to admit, I kinda agree...  While I would not have made this buisness choice, it may end up being a good thing.  US audiences can be fickle sometimes.  I would just like to say, if there is already a roughly translated English version when the beta is released, that could be very beneficial.  It will at least give a wider feedback audience so I really hope that's what happens...  Ok ok, I'll admit it, I just love proofreading portion of beta testing... don't ask me why... I don't know.

On a related note... has anyone heard anything about when the beta testing begins?

Well you sound like a total expert mate, they should hand over development to you right away!

Remember that this isn't their first game, they've made quite a few.

It's a French company.

Working in France.

Which shares a rather large border with Germany.

Why on earth WOULDN'T they release a French version first?!

Localisation is a lengthy process; it'll come soon enough.

So an ignorant american posts his ignorant opinion about how the world should revolve around America?

quote>

(God, I hope those tags worked this time.)

Excuse me, but what are you talking about?

America isn't the only country that speaks English. India, Britain, Ireland, and other colonies that were owned more than 10 years by Britain. It's people like you, that piss me off. Us Americans aren't 'ignorant'. Wouldn't it make sense, for the developers of Cities XL to release the American version of the game (USD for online play, English version, etc.) If they want to maximize profits?

gspang4207 I can see were you are coming from, English, in one form or another, is one of the most prevalent languages in the world. However, I am going to have to disagree with you. Many things that we have here in the USA came from other countries. We normally have to wait and see if it is a big hit for the developer to release it in the states. Just think of it this way, if we get it is really good!

When it is released in English, I just hope they get the translation right!

It hasn't been annouced yet, thats why people are throwing strops. A small minority feel the English speaking World is some sort of Higher being that should be worshipped and waited on hand and foot like an Emperor God, and the burning fact that French and German speakers might get the game first is an unthinkable evil.41.gif

I'm sure they will get the Translation right. From what I've seen Speech-wise from members of the MC team is that they are all rather proficient in English.2.gif

I dont recall mentionining anything / complaining about it not being released in English first? I dont care .

I simply stated I hope they get the translation right, when it is released in English. Unlike some Japanese game attempts

My post wasn't directed at you, it was directed at the minority of people who moaned about it not being released in English first. If your not one of those people, your free from the wrath of my previous post.3.gif

I demand it's released in Klingon!  The empire will destroy you if you fail to comply!  We got Sophos to release their software in Klingon, and so too shall you! Or else! 21.gif
