Welcome to my newest CJ, the Cities of Auria, before i set out by laying the foundations for what i hope to be my best CJ to date, i would just like to say that this will be  a "sotry telling" or Role-Playing CJ and all comments, advice or criticisms are always welcomed (and heavily encouraged).

An Introduction to some of...

MIRE's Movers and Shakers

Mire is one of the many Municipalities in the Nation of Auria, a North American Nation Somewhere between the United States and Virgin Shores. as with all cities, it has its set of people that pass legislature, give donations, make appearences and get on the public's nerves. here is an introduction to three of the Men and Women that make Mire Move! more will be introduced as this CJ is continued

SteveFulworth.jpg
STEVEN FULWORTH:
Steve Fulworth is the PRESIDENT of the Republic of Auria. Steve is currently serving his 1st term as president and is 3 years into his 4 year term. He  enjoys a 62% approval rating among voters and is a member of the PUBLICAN PARTY having mainly moderate right winged veiws. He is the Grandson of Aurian Billionaire John D. Fulworth, Son of Billionare John. D. Fulworth Jr. and brother of Charles Fulworth. Steve has a Net Worth of around 314 Million Aurs (Aurian Currency) making him the wealthiest president of the nation ever. the majority of his wealth was accumlated from inheritance from his Grandfather. Steve was offered the position of Co Chair of the board and CFO of his family corporation, Fulworth Financial, but turned it down in pursuit of a career in polytics. However, Steven holds a 15% stake in the company and therefor retains a seat on the board.

CharlesFulworth.jpg
CHARLES FULWORTH:
Charles Fulworth is the older brother of President Steven Fulworth. Charles Enjoys a life of Luxury as CEO and President of the Board of Fulworth Financial, an international financial insitution founded by his Grandfather many decades ago. Charles has an Estimated net worth of 1.018 billion Aurs, a little over 3 times that of his brother, Steven. the majority of his wealth comes from a trust set up by his grandfather (to the first son of his first son) that will mature on the 60th birthday. Subtract the funds from the trust and Charles is worth 418 million dollars, which he either earned as CEO or invested in companies from the inheritance his grandfather left him. Charles is an active member of the comunity and philanthropist who sponsors many local events and charities. like his brother, he has moderate right wing veiws and is a member of the Publican Party. He owns 22% of the company Fulworth Financial and 51% of the Insurance Agency InsuredLife.

MargaretNewman.jpg
MARGARET NEWMAN:
Margaret is the local represenative to the Aurian Assembly from the 2nd district, which encompasses half of the city of MIRE. If there is a ribbon that needs cut or a building that need dedicated, no doubt this junior represenative will be there to lend a helping hand. She has represenated Mire in the assembly for the past 6 years and chairs the AC (assembly commision) for Domestic Policy. Mrs. Newman has a net worth of about 2.1 million and earns annually 125,000 Aurs.

AND NOW...... a breif pictoral Intorduction to the City of Mire, please enjoy, I normally include captions, but this is just to get everyone aquainted with MIRE. i will explain all the buildings and roads and so forth in the next update 4.gif

the CBD in all its glory. note this is a very old photo and i have changed a bit here and there. the CBD is one of the main "skyscraper districts" in the Mire Metro Area and is home to the headquarters of many international corporations. it shall play a large role in the stories to come.... i tried to create the downtown as a mix of Times Square and a european/british city, did i suceed or fail epically???

It's nice to see that you have a new CJ, Spore.  Mire looks great from what I can see, especially the CBD.

Ntq$310: thank you NTQ, I try! i hope that you do check back in later for more because in two updates, i start the story line and trust me, you don't want to miss it LOL. i hope that you and Flint (if you are still continuing that) are able to participate every now and again, it was great having you stop by!

jacqulina: thank you so much, your dedication to this website and overall freindliness is appreciated by myself and (as i'm sure) the general population at large here on ST

Mayorm: very kind words Mayorm, i really like this city, it took me a while just to get the way i like it, and i'm not even near done with it, but i guess that is what provides the fun. i hope you stop in every now and again to see how things are going... while it is still a little early, would Portage like an embassy? if so, just get back to me with a building and i will give you all the open locations!!!!

ironicepitome: i like to think so too, thanks for stopping by

Victor Valdes: thank you Victor, i'm so glad you stopped by. i hope my future updates will be up to par! if the UIT would like an embassy, please let me know, because i would be greatly honored if our two CJ's could engage in diplomatic relation

Patricius Maximus: Hey Pat! nice to see you here, i'm so glad you think everything is looking good. just give me the link to a building (in a comment would be best) and i will get it built for you in prim realistate!

metarvo: aww shucks *blushes*  your kind words do truely mean so much (how lame does that sound, lol, but they do!). i worked really hard (but not exccesivley) on the downtown and i am honored that you like it. i hope you enjoy what is to come

the above statement applies to all, if anyone would like an embassy I have two other open parcels right now designated for the use of embassies, so if any one at all would like one, just let me know!

    NOW ONTO THE UPDATE!!!!!

sorry for all the words..... but it sets up for the first Adventures ni Auria story Arc

Who we Meet in Today's Update:

    hugh-jackman-picture-4.jpg

    Jim Shaw

    chuk%20norris.jpg

    Chuck Norris

In the Office of President Steven Fulworth, Mayor Chuck Norris along with president of City Council and local architect Jim Shaw, sit down to talk with Steven…

    2.jpg

    above:the Presidential Mansion in Mire

Steven: I hope I havn’t bothered either of you two fine men

Chuck: of course not Mr. President

Steven: how many times do I need to tell you Chuck, just call me Steve; we’ve known each other long enough after all!

Jim: thank you for having us Steve

Steven: who said you could call me Steve!?!

    Jim: *blank stare*

Steven: I’m just kidding Jim… I do apologize; I should conduct myself little more formally. *straightens tie*

Chuck: well let’s get down to business shall we, what do you need us for Steve?

Steven: well, I’ve been thinking, Auria has been a member of the AFDES for the past few years now, and it has only helped us grow and develop. However, with its small offices within Mire, I feel that we are not benefitting to the extent that we could.

Jim: so you want to expand the offices… I suppose that could be done

Steve: actually Jim, I was thinking along the lines of constructing an all new Auria AFDES Center.

Jim: an all new center… do you know how much that will cost?

Steve: don’t worry, the city won’t have to pay a dime, it will all be funded with federal subsidizations .

Jim: all the same Steve, I don’t think many people are going to agree with the idea. We already have a functioning center, and an upgrade will cost significantly less than an all new building.

Steve: Chuck, what is your take

Chuck: you have my support, I believe a new center will do nothing but help our local economy and provide a city icon for many years to come.

Steve: that was more of a response that I was looking for!

Chuck: where would you want to put this new center…. in the location of the old building I assume…. I’ve never liked that building, i can just imagine the wrecking ball going thoruhg it now....

Steve: well actually, I was hoping to put it between 3rd Ave. and the Park.

    4.jpg

Above: Proposed location for new AFDES center

Chuck: oh… you know the zoning laws. Remember the last plan that got shot down to build a children’s hospital there.

    Steve: yes but….

Chuck: Mr. President, with all due respect, while you still have my support, I think you should pick another location. I know that it is a stupid law, there is no better way to put it, but it is a law for a reason.  It was set up to protect the beauty of our historic city park.

Steve: and you put it well, it is very stupid, and that is why I was hoping that we could repeal the ordinance.

Jim: do you know how many hoops we would have to jump through? We would have to get community approval, get the signatures of at least 50,000 citizens, have the backing of the entire city council, take all kinds of polls and give a rational reason for reversing a City Law. It is a lot of work to drop such a minute ordinance, but that is what the provisions in the City Charter call for.

Steve: do you think we could get it all done… n I don’t know, a month or two

Jim: are you nuts? That would be almost…

Chuck: yeah I think we could do that

    Jim: Chuck?  Are you serious?

Chuck: of course, I can get anything done…. I’m Chuck Freaking Norris!

Jim: if you take care of all the nitty gritty, you’ll have my vote. And if this all works out as easy as you think it will, I’m sure I can convince the other members of city council as well

Steve: alright then, sounds great! Let’s get this rolling, we have signatures to collect. Oh and while you guys are at it, you might as well try and abolish the provisions in the Charter that require us to do all this work to drop a simple ordinance. i'll get you all the plans when you have the signitures.

Jim: well, i guess i'm off to the office, i hope this is what you really want Steve *departs*

    3.jpg

Above: Jim Shaw's Architure Firm in Mire's Downtown

Chuck: and i will go start the paperwork at city hall. remeber, i got your back! *winks and departs*

Great update, I love it when people put stories into their CJ's. And great city! Those towers you used, gave me the biggest flashback to the start of my CJ...wow those were the days. Had no idea what i was doing and it was great! Hahaha. I used the same towers as well.

     UPDATE 3: THE MORNING AFTER

Secretary: was it good for you?

    Jim: oh just freaking fantastic!

Secretary: you don’t know how glad that makes me!>3.gif>

Jim: at least you are glad, Steve has just got me all, I don’t know, flustered I suppose,>3.gif>

Secretary: are you referring to the President?>3.gif>

Jim: no, I’m referring to the adult film actor>3.gif>

Secretary: no need to get sardonic Jim>3.gif>

Jim: do you know how much work I have to get done for him now? Do you know how much!?!? I have 3 projects currently started that need to be done at the end of this month for the Sands Casino Corporation, and NOW, I also have to work with Chuck in order to reverse Ordinance 8 for Steve.>3.gif>

Secretary: I thought you were against Ordinance 8?>3.gif>

Jim: I am, but I don’t want to be the one to have to go door to door asking people to fill out a form in order to have it repealed>3.gif>

Secretary: my my, I’ve never seen you in such a foul mood. Remember Jim, you don’t have to do all that, you’re the President of City Council, just assign someone it all for you.>3.gif>

Jim: generally I would, but for some reason, Chuck is hell bent on getting this done for the mayor as quick as possible, and he wants me to go door to door with him today>3.gif>

Secretary: you could have an emergency meeting scheduled at 12:00>3.gif>

Jim: I already told him I’d meet him at City Hall at 10:00 to go out and collect signatures with a group of other people>3.gif>

Secretary: Well have fun Mr. Shaw>3.gif>

Jim: oh THANK YOU, I think I will have so much fun, I won’t know what to do with it *grabs coat, and leaves*>3.gif>

(by the way, the secretary and Jim did not engage in any adult like behavior) >3.gif>

    > 3.gif>>3.gif>After arriving at City Hall, Jim, Chuck and 9 other individuals set out to collect signitures and survey the citizens of the city.

please note that i post all captions BELOW the pictures that the caption refers to

    1.jpg

the group spread out through the city collecting signitures and handing out surveys

    10.jpg

walking thorugh quiet little residential neighborhoods, Chuck would stop at everydoor with "hi, i'm the mayor of Mire, and i would like to get your oppinion on a good cause!"

    2.jpg

Jim, on the other hand, was less than thrilled to be doing this, and would stop at the houses with a feigned smile and say "Sign so i can go home"

    3.jpg

Chuck was the most enthusiastic about collecting the signitures, stopping at everysingle house, and if none was home, he would leave his office phone number so he could contact them at a later time to get their signiture

    4.jpg

most middle class family tended to be suspicious of the ordinance reversal, even though it was in most cases, the first time that they had heard about a so called "Ordinance 8"

    5.jpg

as dusk approached, with hundreds of signitures, Jim said "i'm out, have a great night!" and promptly left

    6.jpg

Mire nights countinue to grow dark

    7.jpg

Chuck and the remaining group continue to go door to door

    8.jpg

as the clock strikes 9:00 all save chuck go home

    9.jpg

illumated by the streetlights, Chuck continued to work until 10 people answered the door saying "what they hell do you think you are doing, do have any idea what time it is?!?!?!"

the group handed out two thousand or so of these official city documents that day

    11.jpg

    NOTICE:

If you feel so inclined, i know there are alot of people out there good with computers, so feel free to copy this form and edit in your own answers, because i would love to here how you would answere the (somewhat ridiculous) questions! if you choose to edit the picture above, please feel free to re paste the edited picture back on this page in a comment! if you don't feel like doing all that, i would greatly appreciate if you voted in the poll/survey to see your ideas on Ordinance 8 (i am trying to make this CJ somewhat interative)

Voted. ^^ This story is interesting. And yes, the wording at the beginning would definitely spark certain thoughts about what happened to make her say that. Wonder what she was really talking about.

    Nice neighborhoods and developments also.

    a month later.....

Steve: thank you chuck for all your hard work!

Chuck: it was my pleasure steve, i really took it to heart you know. i went out there and collected those signitures, campaigned for you and i think we finally have it!

    Steve: thats great!

    Jim: ummm, not quite

    Chuck: what?

Jim: you see, as head of the Mire City Council, i pretty much know whats going on in city council.... shocker isn't it.

Steve: stop being a smart ass and cut to the chase jim

Jim: yes sir mr president sir

    *steve glares*

Jim: well you see, i've been asking around and it appears as if the council will vote  5-1, not including myself

    Chuck: whats the problem there?

Jim: thats 5-1 not for the reversal of ordinance 8

    Chuck: *choice word*

    Steve: are you serious...

    Jim: i'm afraid so

Chuck: we worked all this time and now we are going to have it blow up in our faces

    *thats what she said*

Jim: thats how it appears it is.....

    Steve: no

    Jim: what?

Steve: i said no, i'm not going to let City Council do this.

Chuck: but sir, not even you are above the law

Steve: i may not be, but who says i can't go around it?

Jim: wait wait wait.... what do you mean your going to go around the law?

Steve: i meant what i said and said what i meant. while your powers might be limited as the heads of municipal government, as President of Auria, mine is not.

Jim: alright, enlighten us then oh great one, how are you going around the law

Steve: for gods sakes Jim, stop being such a smart ass!

Jim: i'm not going to, but continue anyway

    *steve glares again*

Steve: alright, heres what i was thinking. *pauses*

    Jim: and you were thinking.....

Steve: i was thinking that since we can't build in THIS city, we build another city to build it in

Jim: did i here you right?

Steve: you should have, unless your smart ass clogged you ears.

Jim: your so funny Mr. President. did you seriously just suggest that we build another city?

Steve: thats what i thought i said... that is what i said, right chuck?

Chuck: yeah, that's what you said

Jim: alright, i'm out *turns to leave*

Steve: where the hell do you think you are going?

Jim: i'm done. i don't care if you are the president, i'm not doing this anymore. i'm finished, i'm  through, i'm out. no disrespect of course....

Steve: none taken. i just thought that you would like to co-chair this venture with your knoledge of architecture and urban planning....

    Jim: nuts president say what?

Steve: oh please, cut the crap. do you want in or not?

Jim: while i am tempted to say yes, i don't think you've quite told us everything yet.

Chuck: yeah. you know i'm always behind you Steve, but how exactly do you think we would fund this?

Steve: good question, and it just so happens that i have an even better answer..... *pauses*

    Jim: go on.....

Steve: oh, right, well it just so happens that the government has recently come into some money thanks to an unexpected discovery

Jim: now what the hell are you talking about?

Steve: i'm sorry, but thats all i can tell you at this time. are you in or arn't you?

Jim: every instinct of my body urges me to say no, but i just can't. i'm in

    Steve: great! and you chuck?

    Chuck: what?

Steve: will you be willing to co-lead this with Jim?

Chuck: but i have the duties of mayor to handle here in mire.

Steve: a speacial election can be held to replace you

    Chuck: replace me....

Steve: i meant to say temporarily fill in for you while you are assisting me!

Chuck: well... if you put it that way. why not, i'm in

Steve: even better! i have a location picked out already and named, i was thinking Auriopolis. i want this city to accomodate at many people as possible, design it as a modern aurian metropolis will you? oh, and the funds have already been alotted to a speacial account. you will need the keys and codes *hands jim and chuck each an envelope*. and we have construction crews awaiting you at the site. i can't wait to see what you two come up with. but for now thats going to be all!

    Jim: wait....

    Steve: ba bye.

*Jim and Chuck leave with many questions unanswered*

    ALRIGHT!

and so a new era in Auria begins shall we take a look at what has begun?

    1.jpg

Jim's design for an intial residential area to act as a temporary anchor for the city to bring in residense and provide demand

    2.jpg

the main road, Elm Street, that runs through the residential area has been split to accomodate a subway and bus stop. Jim decided that this would provide a "focal point" of sorts for the residential area. no one knows what he means by focal point though

    3.jpg

crews have finished planting the trees that will act as a physical and sound barrior between the residential area and future neighborhoods to come

    4.jpg

not forgetting to include a little fun, Jim drew in plans to have to symetrical tennis courts constructed for residents to enjoy at will

    5.jpg

and of course, more roundabouts were added in order to fly the national flag high and proud above its biggest (and most expensive) endeavor yet! and right here i want to give a big shoutout to XYLO for creating this awsome flag for me. he's amazing you all really need to consult with him if you need something done!

    6.jpg

but, Jim was not pleased with the way things were turning out and decided to remove the central roundabout and bus stop/subway stations to  a different location so traffic would not be too disrupted by all the curves in the road as elm street was designed to be a sub-arterial route for commuters. angered by having to tear up and redo something he already did, one construction worker commented "this Jim guy better make up his freak'n mind cause I aint doing this S*** over and over again!"

and as construction continued, someone noticed that none of the lots were selling. puzzled by this, Jim and Chuck consulted with advisors.....

    spore415-NewAuriaReplies.jpg

    jacqulina: thanks for you comment!

Archean: thank you, it is very "explicit" wording isn't it lol. i'm glad you picked up on it!

Petrovar Ambassador: i'm glad you like the two most AWSOME people on the planet. you know i just have to include them some how, i didn't know how at first, but they were going in there! and also thanks for stopping in!

saathoff37: wow, very impressive, i'm soo glad you did that and your input was processed by the center of documentation and used to create a core demographic chart with stuff.... sorry i just got to rambling there but i am really glad that you did that, i wasn't thinking that anyone was there for a minute!

Patricius Maximus: alright, well thanks for you input PAT, parks are nice like that arn't they, like in central park NY

jeffsandychelsea: they are cool arn't they! thanks for stopping in

Mayorm: I intend to do so, thank you for your kind words

    JamBritain: shutup

Twenty20: thanks you and why yes there is a little house. i'm not sure if you are aware but 100 lots just went up for sale in prime realastate in the middle of nowhere. but word on the street it that within a good amount of time that is going to be THE PLACE to be. if your intrested, i'll have your people get in touch with my people!

OHHH and one last thing, thank you to all who voted in the poll, your oppinions were taken into consideration

Alright, the last update must have been crappy, so lets try UPDATE 5

and so our story continues a few weeks after Auriopolis' inception

    1.jpg
Jackson Avenue was constructed directly to the west of the main/original development for future connections. Jim planned it as a main artierial thouroughfare, however as of now, not many sims use it. and YES, Jackson Ave is named after the late and great Michael Jackson. the road was originally supposed to be named Avenue of the Auria's however, it was changed when Jim Shaw heard the tragic news last thursday, he was a dieheart MJ fan. he will be dearly missed (RIP MJ)

    2.jpg
wanting to be closer to the action of Auriopolis, Jim and Chuck decided to construct  an HQ onsite where plans could be made, requests filed and business done. above a back road leading to the office is constructed

    3.jpg
i just wanted to point out the car parked in the middle of no where, and its an old buggy of all things!!! and whats with that overly happy kid jumping on his trampoline??

    4.jpg
here we see the completed Auriopolis Design Center (ADC). the building was designed personally by Jim, and not trying to brag, but he is VERY proud of it, he considers it one of his best designs to date. it has a spacious 40,000 sq. Feet of workable room and offices for architects, engineers and construction heads. at the current time, since Auriopolis has not actually become a municipality due to the fact that it has a population teetering around 5000, the ADC also functions as the de facto "town hall". their are plans to construct a REAL town hall later on down the road as Auriopolis grows.

    5.jpg
in the plaza adjacent to the ADC,  a bus stop was constructed. it serves no purpose as their are no busses running at the current time, however, in the near future a transportation department and bus service will be added

    6.jpg
the national flag flying high and proud

    7.jpg

    8.jpg
ample parking spaces were provided in the back of the building

    10.jpg

    9.jpg
and what update would be complete without a nightshot?

    11.jpg
as the town continues to grow, more land was zoned to allow residential growth surrounding the "inner residential core"

    12.jpg
very shortly after the construction of the ADC and the additional residential areas. commercial entrerprises grew around the ADC creating a definitive  town center

    13.jpg
more Sims continue to move into Auriopolis bringing the official population to around 6,500

a quick shot in case you were wondering what the zoning of the residential area looked like. please note it is messy now but it will all come together later, also, the two roundabouts you see in the picture were later removed by Jim because according to him "they just didn't flow and congested traffic"

    15.jpg
with education in mind, Jim designed and had a temporary school consturcted in order to educate young sims. while their lives may be in transit during the move to Auriopolis but the last thing Jim wants is for their education to be impaired because of the hiatus. while the building looks sound, it is actually made from a cheap, highly compacted paper substance. so while the building will stand and do its job, it can be easily removed without much of a mess.

on the topic of education, a small library was constructed next to the ADC on the corner of Newman and Spruce streets. it needs a name, so whoever wants it named after them, its your lucky day, Because its yours!!!

and heres an overveiw of the commericial core that developed.  note the large building in the center. 110 Spruce street is a large retail and office building with many great little shops and cafes, it has become a local destination among residents. it was an adventurous investmant by Aurian Realestate/developer Billionaire, John Bradshaw. he saw an oppertunity and took it, and so far the results have been very auspicious. so much in fact that he has plans for many future development in Auriopolis. in total, if you were wondering, 110 spruce street cost 17 million to construct.
