Moving to a Mac

I currently have a Windows computer, but I'm getting a MacBook very soon.  I am debating getting SC4:mac and using it on there, but I am wondering if I would be able to copy my current SC4 folder to my Mac, and if all the things would work correctly.  I have numerous plugins that I've collected in the past five years.

Are there compatability issues between plugins and the NAM and Mac computers?

I'll still have my Windows PC, but it might just be easier to use SC4 on the Mac so I don't have to juggle two computers.  And even then, I would hate to lose my region and have to start from scratch.

Any help/tips would be great.  Thanks!

All the plugins etc will work just fine, just copy your SC4 folder right over to wherever it belongs on a Mac (not sure exactly where that is, should be easy to figure out though).

There is nothing wrong with the Mac version of SC4. You should be able to just copy all of your folders onto the Mac and you'll be up and running.

There's a folder for your regions and cities, which I believe you can copy and paste over just like plugins. They could be uploaded to the STEX just like BATs are, but the filesizes are really really big.

I recommend what SODATWIN said. For SimCity (and I suppose with a lot of other things too), a lot of stuff becomes more difficult with Macs, but at the same time I know a lot of people who have both Windows and Mac OS (and Linux, lol) on their computers and it seems to work out really well for them. You could have the best of both worlds.

All your plugins should work fine, with the possible exception of the NAM. Unless they've found a way to make a single version that works on both machines, there is a separate version for the Mac available on the STEx that you will have to download. I've never had performance issues on my Macs, at least until the cities I was playing grew to a few million residents.

On the other hand, it may be easier (and cheaper) for you to do as SODATWIN suggests.

No matter where you go, there you are!

I have problems with the mac version on my macbook Intel: the graphics get goofy. I always trumpet running windows in Fusion or Bootcamp (I like Fusion better). It's a little more money up front, but it's worth it if you play games. Or use other windows stuff.

only problem is, if you're partitioning your HD for windows solely to run SC4... it takes up alot of disk space.
