Rail under road without any traffic

Hi there,

in my recent city I used the "rail under road" NAM puzzle pieces for the first tim to cross a small town (the blue bus traffic line actually denotes the road that is made out of the rail-under-road puzzle pieces). However, there is no traffic in that part of the rail line.

As you can see in the pictures, the commuter are using the normal rail NE (northeast) and SW (southwest) of the town, but not a single commuter is using the rail under road segement in between.

However, many commuters are using the parallel highway to get from NE of the little city to a destination SW of the city. So basically there is the need for a traffic connection crossing the city. I therefore would expect at least a few commuters to use the rail to get from NE of the city to their destination in the SW part. But no one does.

I tried to check the pathing in order to detect e.g. a missing rail-under-road puzle piece, but the only thing you see is the normal road (cars & pedestrians) path:

Can anybody tell me how I can check if there is a puzzle piece missing (or plopped in the wrong direction) that may hinder trains from going through? By just looking at the pieces, I just can see the road texture, but cannot determine wether it is a rail-under-road piece nor wether it is plopped in the right direction.

Thanks!

Rail under road pieces are very easy to spot - they show a distinct red sidewalk.

Your second picture should show this distinct sidewalk texture, but it does not. This suggests that you have not connected the ramps with the rail under road puzzle pieces, but with ordinary road. Obviously, this does not work.

There is a mod (I think it's part of the EuroTextures) that makes the red sidewalk white.

Try driving a Free Drive in UDI in through the underground rail, if you can't get through then you've missed a piece. If you do get through then the sims find it quicker to use the highway than the Rail. In which case I'd suggest using a different NAM Traffic Simulator (I think the Z ones are the best personally)

Chrisim, warrior - thanks, I will give it a try!

Ok, I tried an succeded! Managed to find a single piece that was a normal road instead of the rail-under-road puzzle piece. I also managed to drive a UDI-train through the section (additionally I learned that trains cant go backwards or even change direction in a station ..). So now it's up to my sims ...

    Thanks to both of you!
