Say I wanted to download and install this https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=4338 Can someone give me detailed easy instructions on how to install this on a PC with Windows Vista. Thanks.

Are you having a problem with this file in particular, or are you asking a general question about using files from the stex?

Either way the solution is straightforward. Usually for most files on the stex you simply have to place them in your "plugins" folder.

Using your file as an example:

1. Download the file and extract it.

2. Read the readme file, it contains important instructions on how to get it working.

3. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest NAM, as the readme says.

4. Copy or cut & paste the ".dat" file into your plugins folder. Note that there are 2 plugin folders; one in Program Files and the other in Documents. It's the plugin folder in your documents that you want. In Vista it should be something like:

username/documents/sim city 4/plugins

It should all be working fine now. Ok?

Yes, the  file you gave the link to will be in the Misc. Transportation menu. In general, any ploppable lot files you download and place correctly in the plugins will be found in the various menus. Any growable only lots will not. They will appear to grow in the game when conditions are right for them. Some are actually both. Any Mods, on the other hand, affect the game function, so you'll need to watch for the effects called for. Hope this helps...
