It definitely has neighborhoods like that.  (Especially in the industrial areas) Most of them are located to the south of the second shot.

On a somewhat unrelated note to everyone's midtowns, I would like to clarify something. I'm almost positive a midtown is not actually the space between high rises and suburbs, more of a city center. A midtown isn't northside, southside, west or east, it's smack in the center of a city. On a related note, I would assume downtown is on the south side of a city. I know New York has a midtown, home of the Empire State Building and such, a downtown, home of Battery Park, and the middle of the two is SoHo (I think). But it really doesn't matter that much.

On a related note, everyone's midtown (or transitional districts, as I call them) looks great! I especially like Retep Molinari's with the spiral-staircase kind of building.

What's a city without a midtown? Here's one of mine.

This one's in the day time, in one of my newer cities.

That definition really only happens to apply to Manhattan.  To use a close by example, "downtown Brooklyn" is at the extreme west of the borough.  Downtown Boston is in the northeast of the city.  Sacramento's (my home town) down town is surrounded on 2 sides (south and east) by the area referred to as midtown Sacramento.

In order to keep this post on topie, here's a shot from my philly-based city:

These are some midtowns from my best city yet:

PacificHeightsMidtownShot1.jpg

This was orginally supposed to be low density housing (like to the left of the picture), but with the recent boom in commercial development, I zoned medium and high density, and I think it looks good.

PacificHeightsMidtownShot2.jpg

This is another midtown area, which is comprised of mostly medium-income residents with some low-income as well.

PacificHeightsMidtownShot3.jpg

Yet another midtown area, this one being a slum.

CarsonVillageMidtown.jpg

This area was also supposed to be low-density development, but again, a commercial boom made it into a midtown.

UrondaCastleMidtown.jpg

And finally, one more midtown area.

Hey Jayster, (sorry for the month-late response) you can get the clock by downloading the "Extra Cheats DLL" which can be found here. After you have it, go ingame, hit ctrl-X and type in "ShowTime". There are plenty of other cool cheats in there too, but this isn't the place for that.

I guess it varies from city to city; Atlanta's midtown is also home to several corporate skyscrapers along with residential hirises; downtown has skyscrapers and residential skyscrapers as well. And in Atlanta, there's another "midtown" even north of the actual midtown (Buckhead), with new skyscrapers emerging.

Great work everyone! This is one of my favorite threads.

I wanted to show you my Riverside District, a midtown area of Southland. The city is a part of the Marquette Bay Region which I will be featuring in a CJ soon. Riverside is one of the oldest districts of Southland and is home to many historically designated buildings. Recently it has become a very trendy area to live in and prices in the area have skyrocketed. Many of the area's buildings have been renovated to include lofts and luxury apartments. The area is home to a large population of young professionals who enjoy the nightlife of the area. The river that you see is the Southland River which flows along downtown. The land bridge that you see was constructed in 1930 as a personal favor to the mayor - thankfully the city's politics have become a little less corrupt.

Congratulations Newyorkrunway. You've officially won this thread.

However, MCO1254, pingangster, Isterlan, and Lampala all did awesomely, too.

Here's one of my midtowns. (Click for full resolution!)

Midtown.jpg

It is in a high wealth commerical district. Mostly upscale offices and the like. Note the fact that so many of them are Maxis buildings. I intentionally did not download too many midrise buildings to keep the unique style.

I plan to upgrade this place into a downtown. Note how closely the monorail stations are. They are designed in a manner to handle the expected increase in traffic.

Thanks! I wish I could tell you, but I've got too many BATs downloaded from here, sc4 devo, and all the international sites I could find to really be able to trace where anything came from.

If those are midtowns in the previous posts, I can't wait to see those cities' downtowns.

Anyway, here are the midtowns from two cities in New Pannonia.  The first two are from Clayton:

Below is the midtown of Clarksdale:

newyorkrunaway1, that was amazing! I love how the curved avenues actually fit in withough looking funny like they do a lot of the time, the large parks with pathways, and how the residential is neatly seperated from the commercial with lots of green space and those nice walls.

Good job to everyone else too! I might post something in a while if i can every get SC to work without crashing in 5 minutes.

Only one picture this time, but it's big.

This is a section of Acacia's Montague Ward.  Since I started the NYC comparisons in my last post, I guess you could say Acacia's Montague ward is their Manhattan, and the area pictured here is that midrise-y area where the Empire State Building's located, between lower and midtown.

Anyway, this did take as long as it looked to build.

Yeah, this also applies to Melbourne. The CBD is more to the West of the city, due to the city growing out to the east more.
