I did some searches and nothing came up for this sort of thing. What I mean is a subject to show transitions from downtown to lowrise areas- "midtowns" as they say, or areas that are not suburban but not the CBD either. Like Toronto's St. Clair/Yonge area or New York's Brooklyn. I dunno.

This first area is East of Downtown Callahan. It is a nice area of the city, the schools are good, crime is low. It certainly isn't the most ritzy area of town. It is right along I-128 so there's easy access to downtown and the airport.

This second area is the outer edge of Downtown Bartlett. The city center is on an outcropping into a rather large lake and this area is on the inland side of downtown.

This is back in Callahan and just North of downtown. This area has seen a lot of mixed development and is a mix of middle class residential and medium size office firms. Gerald Avenue which you see in the picture has major traffic problems during rush hour, but due to the development along the road, there is little that can be done about it.

MCO1254: Your image linking system isn't working. Use the thing in the post maker thing (horrible use of the English language there, sorry!) otherwise they don't show up.

Nice midtowns however, all three images are quite realistic and the third is definetly northeastern US/easter Canada -ish. (I copied and pasted the links to the browser).

Sorry about them not working everybody. I realized they weren't working, but in the middle of editing the post I had to leave in a bit of hurry. I just now finished it almost 2 hours later. They're up now though. I'm glad you liked them. The region is set in the US and I've tried to base the design on cities that I've seen to make it as realistic as possible.

Here are my "midtowns". They are not actually part of a bigger city as of now, but I will probably integrate them into a large city.

Instead of using one type of zoning per block I use all types of density on a block.

    So what do y'all think?

AxaphalEsteus, we don't do that here.  This is a supportive community.

This is a shot from Jefferson, near the foothills of a low mountain range.

though they're not real  "midtowns" , I think housing estates are perfect for filling transition zones:

These are from a CJ I'm working on called Acacia, which I hope to be ready sometime in the next decade.  (Memo to myself: Trying to build on a region made from 12 large city tiles is a HORRIBLE IDEA.)

The first two shots are from Lunsford City, a smaller city across the river.  (Think of it as Jersey City to Acacia's New York)

    Tri-CityArea-Apr141391237564762copy.jpg

Finally, a construction pic:  This is a neigborhood of Acacia I'm working on.  It's taking forever to build.  (I have to plop large portions of it because trying to grow it gave me insane amounts of building repetition.)

Without the smell i'm guessing? That city looks like a place i could leave the door unlocked at night. In Jersey City they don't bother to lock their doors cause they'll get robbed anyway, and probably shot too.
