Sydney Opera House

Just, to let you know, I did NOT make the sails of this building, except for the restaurant in the back. I did make the base and textured it. I don't know exactly how I am going to do the lights on the sails and I textures turned out a lot lighter than I expected.

I had the model for a while and I need to get permission to release it. However, my email doesn't work so somebody else will have to do it for me if they want this; http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/architex.asp , go to the contact link.

This was exported on draft and I will make the lot better when I am done. I would really appreciate any suggestions.

I see alot of threads from people concerned about releasing 'real' buildings.
Maxis covered this in the BAT chat. As long as you are not selling your work you can make and post (to the LEx) pretty much whatever you feel like.

Maxis can not because they make $$$ off of these things.

So,if its done and you want to share it please upload it. I know I would like it in my city.

The resolution isn't very nice, but I don't think it's the building textures fault. Probably it doesn't look great since you resized the image. Could you please show a better picture of it? I'm curious to see how it really looks in the game...

he means the legal issues through 3Dcafe.com.  he got the model off of it and for him to publish it out to the world, he needs thier consent.

I'm kinda surprised nobody has done this yet...it seems at sc4.com there is a new thread everyday asking for the Opera House.

I think the OH and the Sears Tower are the two most in demand LMs.

well i live in sydney, and if that was what people were using for the opera house, id take offence, it loks rather squashed, and just way too small. its probably the conversion and all, but i still dont like it looking so... ugly

JEC, if you go back and re-read the user agreement on 3dcafe you'll find that all models and textures are royalty-free.  As long as you don't sell the model in any way your fine.

it was rendered on draft, so that is why it has bad quality and it is to scale in gmax. i'm still not sure how I have going to do the lights. i'll export it on high quality before I go to school tomorrow and post a new picture.

Jec! your the best! it's like u answer my prayers for an Sydney opera House! i felt that is was missing too! EA is sure missing lots of impt landmarks! Like the Sydney Opera House, The Eiffel Tower, The London Eye, Metlife Building and so much more! Well, anyway, i applaud your work!

yuck (way too bright), this was my very first experience with the bat. i don't even think i have this anymore; the model isn't even mine.

if anything i would redo the whole thing, but i have too much on my hands right now, so don't count on me.

 

oh, btw simpleplan: there is an eiffel tower and metlife (PanAM) building already finished and the london eye is being finishes by the NDEX group
