    Welcome to page 9!

    Petriknl, I am so happy that it worked for you. I figured out what problems there were with maps, and when Tijn21 sent the second package, he confirmed my suspections: my photoshop changed ONE RGB value (88 for land) to RGB value 87, which is just under the water. I had to do some tricks to fix that... Just a question, what parts of Cycledogg's terrain did you have in your c:\program files\maxis\simcity 4\plugins folder? Could you take a screenshot of that? Because probably I had something that cause the land to lower just a teeny bit...

    EDIT: Your region turned out really nice, like your water color a lot. Just what we need!

    Mickebear: the watercolor I was using is the one to which I linked in my post on page 8.

    The CP plugins I am using are:

    -CP_ColumbusPlayTerrainParameters
    -CP_ColumbusRockTextures (altough I think I am using a PEG rock texture.. btw which rocktexture are we going to use???)
    -CP_TerrainTextures_No1

    Does anyone know how I get the mountains snowcapped.. like tijn21 has in the entire Istrina map??

    Next to do:

    -decide on a rock and watertexture
    -building our Nations
    -making a history (common = Nicolais and Petriknl, national = YOU)*
    -making some BATS (Mickebear, Simmania and ??)
    -decide when we will start
    -decide some rules

    * About that Mickebear had come up with the idea of Sudoslavia, a Slavic socialist nation, a puppet of Tito. After WorldWar2 it was very difficult to have a solution for the very divers Istrina region. Tito created Sudoslavia as a independent nation, which controlled parts of Istrina and parts of Croatia and Slovenia.

    The 'Slavinazation' and exploitation of Istrina and suppressing of the Istrinian cultures and identities caused much trouble and in 1986(?) Sudoslavia was in a civilwar with their Istrinian provinces. They became independent and the slavic parts of Sudoslavia were occupied by Yugoslavia, this caused trouble with the Slovenian and Croatian people, who started their own independents struggle not long after the liberation of the Istrinian nations. OK??

    PS Has someone the new airport pack for me, the links towards it seems to be all death..

    Quick response before I go to work. You cannot get snowcapped mountains, if you use Cycledogg's terrain mods. I'd prefer to use Cycledoggs modds, because they look so realistic...

    Mrbisonm: also your map is rendered - but as it is 16 MB, I cannot send it as one file. Tell me when you are at home so that I can send it in several zips. I don't want to clog your mailbox...

    I also think we need:

    -someone to make us a website
    -someone who can handle photoshop and can start up the Istrinian Statistic Bureau (ISB or a different name ofcourse)
    -also we need to name some geofysical locations like rivers, mountainranges, depressions, bays, etc etc...

    I can do web pages, use Photoshop and I do statistics at work... but I wouldn't want to volunteer for this, because my batting and lotting takes all of the free time that I have, to the extent that my spouse is getting really angry... 15.gif

    That looks just beautiful. I have continuous problem to render my own nation: the grey values turn to 65, thus 95% of the land is under water... I suppose my Istrinians became Atlantinians with their sinking cities... grrr...

    Here's what I suggest for mods'

    The water Mod' can be a photo-realistic mod made by Pegasus.  I'm sure that Windjammer is perfect for us:

    For the rock Mod' I suggest the Pegasus's Mossy Granite . That mod is also photo-realistic and contains lot of details...

    I've looked to screens of Croatia before chose them...

    My map problem is solved. For some reason, SC4 changed each time the grey values about 20 points lower than in the original jpg file. But when I changed the file attributes to READ-ONLY, the region loaded just nicely. This might be also a solution to the problems that mrbisonm has been having with his maps.

    EDIT: I will test the mods that Simmania suggested tonight. I'll let you know the results.

    mm about the mods... I did not like the Windjammer mod (to dark) and I think it will not look very mediterranean.. does anyone know what kind of rocks there are around Croatia?

    I have now tested both the rock mod and the windjammer water mod. Although I like the colors, there is one BUT: they look too repetitive on zooms 1-3, and look nice only really at zoom 4 and 5. I try to have a screenshot to show in the moment. The search goes on...

    Alright, here are some screenshots of Istrska Pula - Polazzo Istriniana...

    As you can see already here, there is a big difference between the 'baby' blue of petriknl and windjammer proposed by Simmania. From this view, I like Windjammer more.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//WindjammerZoom.jpg align=baseline>

    This is Windjammer at zoom 1. When you use Photoshop, effect is not flattering.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//WindjammerZoom1.jpg align=baseline>

    Windjammer at zoom 2. Checkering continues.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//WindjammerZoom2.jpg align=baseline>

    Windjammer at zoom 3:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//WindjammerZoom3.jpg align=baseline>

    And Windjammer at zoom 4. On this zoom, it is great - and for me, the darkness is great on this zoom. You can create very realistic pebble beaches - just make sure that not too much of the water is shown.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//WindjammerZoom4.jpg align=baseline>

    Next I need to test the rock mod that Simmania proposed - that will be for tomorrow evening.

    About the watermod... I still like the babyblue one hehe...

    About the rockmod.. I think maybe we should try a very light rock mod.. tp white or yellow maybe

    I do love the screenshots....great to see Istrska Pula - Polazzo Istriniana, our sisternation to the south

    Alright, I made another test, this time with PEG's  Crystal Lagoon water mod and with PEG's Rock Mod II - Gold Sandstone . The water is slightly better, though a bit repetitive in upper zooms, but the rock is beautiful.

    Zoom 2, some repetitiveness, although not as bad as Windjammer

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//CrystalLagoonZoom2.jpg align=baseline>

    Zoom 3. Some repetitiveness.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//CrystalLagoonZoom3.jpg align=baseline>

    Zoom 4. The water is beautiful. Maybe too blue for Mediterranean.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//CrystalLagoonZoom4.jpg align=baseline>

    And finally zoom 5. Here the rock mod is very very beautiful and the water doesn't have the same repetitiveness as it has in upper zooms.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//CrystalLagoonZoom5.jpg align=baseline>

    I have time to test yet another water and rock mod before I go to work.

    And here is my last test, this time with PEG's Brigantine water mod and PEG's Green Igneous that is found in PEG ROCK MOD 3 . I found the water mod excellent, not at all repetitive at any zoom, albeit a tad too dark for somebody's taste maybe. The rock mod is very realistic, if you like the light rocks.

    and rock mod at zoom 3

    Mickebear, you can send me those region files now. Although I am still on vacation for at least another week, but at least I am in a civilized place now, where I can have internet connection with my laptop. I will simply transfer the files to my homecomputer when I get home.

    Since I am doing two other CJ's at the moment (plus some BATting and Moderating on ST), I am glad that my region will be somewhat appart from the rest. I mean I am not connected to the sea, which means that I will keep my actual watermod, and also the mountains do not touch the neighboring cities, which again means that I will keep my own rockmod, instead of switching files everytime I want to go from one region to another.

    I will use the following terrain mods:
    Cycle Dogg's terrain mod
    White_Sand_Beach
    PEG_Gray-Rock-Mod_105
    PEG_MMTrees_Pines_205a
    Mayor Mode Trees Jeroni 01
    GDV Mayor TropTree Set
    and some others that do not have any impact at all on other neighboring cities.

    I have included some pictures of what the landscape will approximately look like in my part of the world. The name will be *Norland*

    Lavender-A.jpg

    Lavender-B.jpg

    Lavender-C.jpg

    I have the game of SC4 ionstalled on my laptop, only to have some fun here and there, but I do not have all the mods,gamefiles,lots and BATs and cities and stuff that I have on my homecomputer, which is 10 times bigger than the laptop.
    Ok, now I have to go back to the beach, by order of my wife.......41.gif

    mrbisonm: I have now sent the files to your email address, actually a link to YouSendIt, where you can download it easily.

    Let me know if you have any problems.

    To all: I think we all can choose our own rock mods - there are at least 20 different geological types in Adriatic area, so all goes. For water, I suggest that we take that one of mrbisonm, it looks fabulous!

    EDIT: I think that the water mod is the same as petriknl has, but needs to be verified

    As a rock mod I will use PEG's mossyGranite because my country is to the Northeast bordering Austria and ( Romania ) ahum EDIT: Hungary of course. As a watermod I would like to see PEG's Brigantine mod just because I like the deep blue colour ... of course I will use the same one as the majority. Just let me know.

    I still tried a bit with Brigantine, with some of the newest BATs of Godiva. And result is amazing:

    Really, it is NOT a photo, nor have I used Photoshop. It is directly from the game... Godiva, Cycledogg and Pegasus are together with BSC really the best creators of this game!!!

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MljenaZoom5.jpg align=baseline>

    and zoom 4 - there the picture is at least a bit more like the game...
