One way streets and rail crossings.

I seem to have broken SimCity 4. D'oh!

Somewhere along the lines my one way street and rail crossings stopped functioning properly. They are still transit enabled, however, barriers do not lower and cars do not stop, leading to trains and cars crossing at the same time WITHOUT collision.

I figure this must be the result of a plugin that was installed at some point along the way, but I rarely install transit plugins. I just updated to the new NAM in the hopes that it would fix it, but no dice.

Any thoughts? Anyone ever seen this before?

As a subquestion, I no longer see elevated rail trains on my tracks. This might be due to lack of ridership, but it's happening game-wide. Any thoughts on this one too? Double d'oh!

Thanks!

Bryce

Met_K...

Some of what you posted sounds like the effect of installing NAM (since you said it was new) in a left-hand version of the game without installing the left-hand component of the NAM. If you have a left-hand game version, you need to select the last item on the installation list.

It's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Hope that fixes it for you...

Thanks for your response. I checked it out and I have the right file in place. Right hand drive version of SimCity 4 Deluxe. Completely updated, too.

So weird. I first noticed it late last year after the last NAM update in which I mistakenly added the "reduce one way arrows" file, then removed it, but it could have been before that. No clue. I have 24 hour radical automata installed, as well.

This isn't a functional issue, just aesthetic, and it's semi-bothersome, but I guess not really. D'oh!

Ah, if it doesn't seem to affect the functioning of the crossings, then it wouldn't be the left-hand/right-hand thing as that definitely would. As for another possibility, I think I remember an issue with the game and the appearance of the one-way crossings and their barriers. It wasn't a functional issue, just aesthetic, as you mentioned. There is a mod to address the cosmetics of the lot by Swamper. There's also one by ebina. Maybe one will help...

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll download 'em and give 'em a try. You're ace!

As for the el-rail thing, I figured it out. SFBT's GLR Tram Mod includes a file that stops the el-rail automata from running. The .rar file I downloaded didn't include a readme, nor does it include any options on what files it installs. While I should have paid more close attention to the description of the mod and what it did, it's a pretty poor choice to include that as default and not include any sort of explanation whatsoever in the installer. Oh well, fool me once...
