Yea, i had no trouble installing it. But when i go to play it, it runs the EA vid, the Maxis Splash, the Preview vid, and the game splash and then it just crashes back to desktop.

I have updated the patch already.

Need help, really wanna play thanks!

First of all we must ask you if you have any plugins installed. When more than one of the same plugin or plugins that conflict with each other are installed, this causes problems with the game trying to load them, and they game has no choice but to terminate it self.

Some things you can do, (If the above instance is true), split your plugins folder in half. Move half of the contents to a folder to your desktop and load the game. If it doesn't crash, the fault is in the mass of plugins on your desktop. Start moving stuff back into your plugins folder, and begin trial and error. (If your game still crashes, move more plugins to a separate place on your desktop, and move the old stuff back into your plugins folder.)

Good luck 2.gif

Interesting, then what I suggest you do is do a complete re-install. If you have any cities at all, go ahead and back up that entire region on your desktop somewhere. (Copy and paste the region folder).

Perhaps its a vista compatibility cross over if you have vista. But I have vista, and it works fine for me (exept for the fact that rush hour deleted all of my saves)

What else is in your computer? What's your processor, your graphics card, the driver version for the graphics card? How much RAM do you have?

Did you make sure you uninstalled completely, and then reapply all patches after you reinstalled (version should end in 640, I believe) ?

Oh boy, I am almost sure its your comptuers specs. Simcity 4 was made to operate on slow machines, from back in 2002/2003, so running it on a modern computer with such a high spec count is almost impossible.

Wow, I did not know that.  So I guess the old computers are good for something.

The Specs isn't the problem, I run SC4 on a dual core laptop with 3 gigs ram and vista as well as a desktop with similar specs to JooB91 and I've got no issues.

I know you don't want to hear it but maybe its time for a harddrive reformat and windows reinstall, that usually fixes all my problems.

Thats kind of a last resort for me, [deleted], if that doesn't work i'll try reformat.

Well, you have and a lot of replies, but have you checked your virtual memory settings?  Notwithstanding all that memory you have, and depending on what else is running, SC4 can take up a lot of memory.  If you don't have a big enough paging file, it may fail to build the linkage table correctly.  Try setting your virtual space to 4095MB both initial and maximum.

Also, your disk may be very badly fragmented, including your swap file.  How many partitions do you have?  Try defragmenting them all.

If you have to defrag your swap space (paging file) it gets a little hairy.  Consult a local tech guru for that.
