Hello, my name's Liam and I have downloaded some buildings, unzipped them and added them to the plugins folder, but I don't know where to go from there to put them onto my city. Thanks for any help, Liam.

First make sure you have the Rush Hour Expansion or the Deluxe version. Second make sure your game is up to date. You can find out how to update your game by reading this (link).

Also you need the dependancies (the files the download needs to have) for the downloads to work right. There are 2 dependancies that you MUST have to download these things and get them to work- the buildingprop files.  Once its in the plugins folder you should be good as long as you follow the above advice.

The download window and/or readme should tell you what menu to find that lot in as well as other stats about it. Once you select the lot you can change its oreintation the Home and End keys to align them. One little word of advise- If you use NAM puzzle pieces be careful! If you plop them too close to a transit enabled lot like a train station or huver that piece over the TE'ed lot your game may crash. This is a game glitch that cannot be fixed.

I hope that was helpful.

Thanks for your help, I think I know what to do, but the link to the buildingprop files doesn't work, and there isn't a link on Google...

    leeleemc...  Welcome to ST

    And a  bit more...

Some downloads are ploppables, some are growables, and some are both. Look in any Readme's and/or download instructions for this information. Ploppables will be in the Menu indicated in the instructions as pagenotfound mentioned. Growables only will not be in a menu and they will grow automatically in the game as conditons for their growth are met. So if you're looking for your building in a menu, be sure it is one that can be plopped and not just a growable. Hope this helps...

    Okay...

The houses in the link you gave are 1x1 growables. That particular size (1x1 residentials) won't grow untill the game reaches stage two (about the time the mayor mansion becomes available - I think). 1x1 lots won't grow at the beginning of the game. Try to grow your city for a while and then zone some 1x1's to see if they show up. Hope it works for you...

Oh, there's no pain involved...2.gif  Glad to help...

    Hi, Liam,

    Welcome to Simtropolis.

There is a readme for the one you linked, it's the Notepad document included in the file entitled "Readme".  These are residentials, so they would have to be growable.  Residentials can't be plopped, as the commuting doesn't work and they usually dilapidate.  The lots are 1x1, and are low wealth.  So if you zone 1x1, and your R$ demand is up, which is usually the case, you show see these grow.  It doesn't say what stage they are, so they may not grow in a totally new city.

Stage of a lot controlls how high city population is when they grow.  They have 21 sims, so they should grow fairly soon since lower numbers may indicate a lower stage.

    Enjoy the game.

Thanks so much for your help, I know what to do know! One more question, if I had a growable lot 3x5 lots, do I just highlight 3 x 5 squares, because I didn't know you could do that.

You can use the ctrl key to control lot sizes. After zoning, hold the key down before releasing the mouse button. This will make the zoned area one single lot. The shift and alt keys also allow you to change the zones. Don't forget, though, that just because you make the zone, the lot might not appear right away.
