Subway Commute time

Hi all..

I was wondering if commuting on the subway takes longer when more stations are between station A and B?

Does this take longer:

A--------|--------|---------|---------|--------|---------B

Than:

A-------------------------------------------------------B

Thanks

If the stations are plopped on the subway track and if they're congested I think it would take longer.

I wonder if some sort of express system could help alleviate congestion. I myself am running into subway congestion issues.

If you put

A--------|--------|---------|---------|--------|---------B

Right next to a

A-------------------------------------------------------B

Get something like but make them systems that never connect. I think this could help and im going to experiment. If you connect all your subway lines into one system, you'll just end up with congestion along the most desired path. If you force sims to take the paths you want, you can have a better handle on congestion.

A2 is near A and B2 is near B but they do not connect.

Figure these lines are 6-10 tiles parrallel to each other.

A2 ------C----------------E-------------G---------------B2

A----------------D----------------------F-----------------B

Simple answer: no.

The game does not take into account that there is a station there, it just sees it as another tile of subway track, thus it will not take longer for commuters to use that subway line (or any network line for that matter).

Congestion, however, will slow things down.  Keep checking your stations to see what percentage of usage they are getting as well as the traffic congestion query and graph to see how your actual line is doing.

If there is overusage, it is a good idea to build another subway line, perhaps right next to the current line.  You could also make a more direct line for commuters based on the patterns outlined in the traffic query.  The choice is really up to you!

I hope this helps you out!

Best,

Even though it would be more expensive, surely conjestion would be less if there was a central line that has no stations and lines either side with stations that connect to it:

Something like:

A-----|--------|--------|-------|-------|

...\..... \........ \//////// \........ \ ........\

--------------------------------------------------------------- B

./....... /........ /.......... / ......../ ......../

|------|--------|--------|-------|-------|
