Mass Unemployment

So I was just making my city, y'know, and it was doing alright (for a slum town, at any rate) with no zots to be found, and all commute times 'short'. Then all of a sudden, WHAM! mass unemployment. it came out of nowhere! there were plenty of jobs to be filled, bothg industry and commercial, but the zots will no be coaxed away. Another strange effect of this phenomenon was that the zots moved around my town; one neighbourhood now, in a month, the next!

Please help!

Yea, Sim City dose that. Maybe it's something to do with the financial crisis or something. 3.gif

I'd improve the transit network as a first step. Un-employment doesn't necessarily mean there aren't enough jobs in your city, it's usually a sign that your network is too congested, and they just can't get to work in the first place.

But the traffic transit views have virtually no congestions, and before the crisis, all the commute times in my city were short

Need more details (screenshots would be especially helpful). What wealth types are losing their jobs. Were there any recent shifts from R$ to R$$ (check your pop/job chart). Is education involved? Is your transit network ok. Not just congestion - but functionality. Look here for some more ideas. Bring us up to speed on what has happened thus far.

I'm sure someone on here is eventually going to ask this, but what Mods are you using, because if you have multiple traffic mods with the NAM it can seriously mess up your whole game.

I really do believe on sc4 there can be a finical crisis because one time my capital Washington D.C. had a major bust in it's market because I believe the amount of job's caught up with the population, and my largest city 2 or 3 blocks away declined rapidly, as in the entire city of 600k had jobless zots over it, but it only lasted for a month, and the result to that was all the subway lines in the city do not work anymore...

Another thing you don't want is rapid urbanization, My largest city can grow from 10-50k a month sometimes because of construction everywhere!!!

sqiddster: That same thing has happened to me. Do they commute to another city or are Sims from another city taking available jobs? Maybe the the business areas increased in wealth and have been employing higher-wealth Sims? These are possible causes.
