i thought the disease research center is like a regional hospital. however, i could never got the usage to more than 7k, but my other larger medical center are all over capacity. i have to build 15+ large medical center for a city around 300k pop.

since the disease research center lowers desirability so much, is it optimal to build it?

The disease research center just helps with the health level of the city, it doesn't replace any type of hospital. It also creates radiation pollution so it should be placed where the pollution won't affect other development.

Also if your city is like mine's it won't matter where it's at because the people are lucky to even live in the city!!! lol

And a triple play by demetrius! 17.gif

The disease research center is a good idea. It raises the health of your sims, which in turn raises your mayor rating and increases the desirability of your city. Just put it out of the way since it does have radiation.

My city population hit 2.4M.  The number of patients for the DRC has gone above the max capacity.  I am going for 3.4M population.  At this rate, the DRC will probably stop functioning at that population.  Is there a way to build a second DRC?

Please, don't bring topics back to life that have been dead for four years. If you'd like to find hospitals, you can search the STEX for 'clinic' or 'hospital' (look for the word 'ST/Exchange' at the top of every page of Simtropolis).
