Building Variety

Hello everyone, it's been ages since I've posted here and even longer since I last played SC4.  I recall an old problem I used to have regarding the number of buildings that actually popped up in my cityscape. 

I had 100's of bats in my folder, but it seemed that only a certain portion of buildings would grow.  Has this issue been fixed yet? Was file folder management for the addons the key to getting a wide variety of buildings in your city?

Well first (and probably most important) thing to consider is, are the files all growable? Make sure that the buildings you want to see pop up are growable BATs, this way they will grown on their own. If they're ploppables, they will be located in a menu somewhere, and you will plop them instead of wait for them to grow.

If all the buildings you have are growable, then it relies strictly on the demand and desirability of your city. Lets say you are waiting for a few CO$$$ to grow in your downtown area. Make sure that you have enough demand for these buildings, and that your downtown area is desirable enough to support them.

I know it gets annoying seeing the same building repeated over and over in a single city. Try and check to see if the plugins you have are indeed growable files. Do this by going into your plugins and viewing the .dat files there.

A bit of semi-obvious-but-possibly-overlooked advice: make sure you've selected all the building sets (Houston, Euro-Contemporary, etc.) to grow in your cities. If you're looking for variety, it helps to have them all growing at the same time, as well.
