Well, that's another year over and done with.

Time to reflect on what sort of year you've had, what you achieved, what went wrong, how did it compare to other years of your life. How do you feel about the past years events? Are you optimistic about 2009?

I'll go first...

2008 was (in general) a positive swing year for me. I had a terrible '07 and last year ('08) just had a sort of upturn feel to it. I've got a lot more freedom to do what I want now, compared to this time last year and I actually feel like I achieved quite a bit over the course of the year. I'm better off now and probably have heaps more self confidence because of what happened in 08. Bring on 09 I say!

NSW won the State of Origin (rugby contest between two Australian states), it's hilarious when the Queensland supporters get so down after a loss, I don't really care though.

The Beijing Olympics were a bit of a letdown for me, I was expecting the same sort of atmosphere as that of the Sydney games, but it just didn't happen. Still WAY better than Athens. Pity about Tibet though, China really should go easy on them.

I was really pleased to see that Obama won the US elections; change from the current way of thinking in Washington has to be good.

Brendon Nelson is not the opposition leader in Australia anymore, haha, lol Brendon Nelson! The liberal (right wing) party is now a laughing stock to me (I can’t wait for the Chasers - political / prank show returning in 09 - have a dig at them). Kevin Rudd still has my support... but I haven't got my laptop yet... Kevin, where is it!

I honestly couldn't care less about the so called ‘global financial crisis’ the only effect it’s had on me at all is that oil (petrol) prices have dropped dramatically since the high in the middle of the year. Very good.

Now, your turn...

I don't want to be one to spew forth personal troubles and triumphs, but I started working for the first time this year and I have twenty words to utter - This is the most tedious, boring and downright soul destroying situation that i've ever had the misfortune to fall into. Maybe its because I work minimum wage to support 2 people, doing heavy lifting and/or standing for 7 hours sifting through scabby unwanted books hoping to come across a signed, first edition Lord of the Rings in a sea of failed Diet Books and Da Vinci Codes. I'd much rather go back into education and maybe do something part-time jobwise. I know somebody has to have the crap jobs, but its funny to think that the crap jobs wouldn't be so crap if we just had some comforts... I mean, Chairs would be nice for a start 21.gif

But, I would like to thank two wonderful entertainment developers that kept me very much occupied  in my spare time this year*... Rockstar and Bethesda, who loves ya baby! 2.gif

*By "This Year", I of course mean "Last Year" (2008).

Well, I gave up a nice apartment, good job, and a collector car to move back east to take care of my mom. I now have next to nothing, and the job market here is impossibly weak. 2008 started great and only went downhill for me, I guess that's what I get for doing the right thing. I can only hope that 2009 brings better.

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

2008 was great.  It started off a little unpromising. The summer was mediocre but the start of the school year in the fall and onward was fabulous.

Seems odd-numbered years are always bad for me... I'm determined that 2009 won't be that way!  4.gif

All I can do is quote a song here...

"I tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter..."

Needless to say 2008 ended suckish for me...though I doubt many of you will even get to read this post after the New Year 2.gif

Keep calm and take photographs.
