SC4 Transparency Rendering

Can SimCity 4 (Deluxe) render semi-transparent textures from Gmax? Is there a restriction on color depth, rendering mode, or resolution?

You are not real clear with the question, but if all are about textures, then the answer is yes for transparent rendering of textures. The rest are handled by the SC4 BAT plugin.

Transparency in gmax does not mean transparency in sc4. When BAT renders, it is actually taking pictures of each direction and zoom level. Whatever is behind the transparent object in gmax is what you see in game. If there is nothing behind it, then you see nothing behind it in sc4.

I was curious about this, so I tried it out.

You can render transparent glass over any part of your model and see through it fine, but you can’t look through it to see something that’s not part of your model (something else in the game). Well that’s in gmax anyway, not sure about whether or not it could be done in Max?
