SOkay, This game is simple. I ask a question about a city and Each person can give one answer. The first person to post the right answer gets points.

For every right answer you gain 5 points.

If you give a highly specific answer then you get 7 points.

1- Pingangster - 27

2- Duke - 19

3- Aontan - 17

4- Sixcents - 7

5- JanYpe- 7

People will be ranked in numerical order based off the number of points they have.

Okay. Well now that that's set I will ask the first question.

There is a valley in the name of Forge. In this valley it lays in another valley which is named after the neighboring state to it's south. The major city that this landmark is close to used to be the center of most political colonial activity as well. What is the city that this site sits close to?

Well, personally, I wouldn't keep score to avoid turning this into a popularity contest but... your game, your rules.

Anyways, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Famous for Washington having stayed there with his army in the winter of 1776. The valley with the name of the neighboring state would be the Delaware Valley, named of course for the Delaware River which it is the valley of... and the city you're thinking of would be Philadelphia, whose name means "brotherly love" in Greek, hence why it's called "the city of brotherly love" despite the fact that brothers there are not known to exceptionally affectionate of each other.

Come on, that's too easy. Try harder. Be more obscure. 2.gif

It's London. Roasted: the Great Fire of London. Stink: the Plague, and it is know for being foggy.

Or is it San Francisco, which also burned and is foggy?

    Hong Kong!!

Edit: This is because Hong Kong is a city located on an island, and takes up much of the island. It also surrounded by mountains and is located in a bay.

    Jamestown, VA

Charter authorized by King James I, thus it and the James River were named for him. Island is 40 Miles inbound from Atlantic, marshy, hence the disease and general misfortune which plagued the colonists.

Pretty sure he was thinking of Saint Petersburg, built out of the swamp under Czar Peter I.

Jamestown was named for King James I, but he merely chartered the Virginia Company (and thus the colony). He did not specifically mandate the construction of a city. In fact, Jamestown was never really a city. It was a tiny little fortification. The city was Williamsburg, built away from the river on more solid ground.

Although, this talk of building in swamps evokes...

Listen, lad. I built this kingdom up from nothing. When I started here, all there was was swamp. Other kings said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So, I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So, I built a third one. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp, but the fourth one... stayed up! And that's what you're gonna get, lad: the strongest castle in these lands!

    Oops...You're right spelling error.

Okay here is a add on. It's a word that is used to describe objects and ideas. However this word is only 4 letters.

I suspect you're thinking of Nice, France, then.

    However, two things:

    1) It's French. I do believe it would be pronounced more like "neese", than "n-ice"

    2) Its name has nothing to do with the English word "nice". That's just coincidental. Its name ultimately derives from that of the Greek god of victory, Nike.

Duke is right!. Plus that was the kicker. It's actually in a different language but it's spelled like that. Also lovely history of the name as well. You learn something new everyday! 4.gif

    7. This city was active until something happened which made some of the trees and livestock in the area die. Since then it's become a ghostown. But it's neighbor still gets tourists.

Sinning in till taste? The soil tastes like sin?

Well, if you're talking about a place where sinning is not allowed, Vatican City would be the obvious answer.

Las Vegas is quite the opposite: a place where sinning is acceptable and expected. 31.gif

And I though he meant "Sinning is in ill taste". Which is closer to what he said.

Anyways, can we have a verdict, shinny-boy?

    People I've called "__-boy" count = 4

I'd go for Las Vegas. The gambling brings in a lot of money, so it would be in "till" taste.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

    Correctomundo! Sixcents!

This one city is almost like Manhattan. Well not age wise but in terms of building style just about. And it's in the most unexpected place as well. What city is it.
